I will say this - There is hope that the distribution of the market creates a market in which , what you have seen occurs in sCrypt occurs in SHA256 , there will be many more SHA256 currencies , because the distributed market will cause a demand - but.

there also may be that effect that , because the market has now been so centralized that the risk to go to an ASIC for the market creates a negative feedback loop and it dies. 

I believe it will not , i believe the market still has a chance to distribute - but BTC will be the victim in and too a degree - but there are many outside variables, another banking crisis could change that in about 15 seconds. and the smart people know that .
