10K BTC ...sh*t got real....

(putting in my 2-week notice for work...probably 11/29 wens...)

thus ..... only time the guys will see me from now on ..is every couple weeks for ice cream and/or pizza...with them (I worked a house with 4 dev disabled folk)

man, the power's that be, at my job, are gonna sh*t a brick when I give them only 2 weeks notice on Wens/Thurs this week......I've been company 26.5 years.....

Time to do it.....

I am still making my money mining....enough to live on even...and regular investments....forget the BTC and other crypto hoards....don't even have to touch them... so no reason to wait....

(by this announcement the ASIC gods have now diverted that near pass asteroid, popping by this month, will impact,  directly at my house, that would suck)

I just figured out I have to wait until Dec 31st, 2017 to retire.....need to keep health insurance until my individual health insurance plan starts on 1/1/2018.

Duh. Kinda obvious. So Gasp! I will have to work an EXTRA 2 WEEKS! (the horror!) Ack!

Realise your profits now, though, no need to wait til 10k since this is clearly your end game. Wise to do so at your own target. Actually, I suspect you're not the only one waiting for this ship to make port, so you might yet help BTC on its way for a long overdue correction haha.

Thanks, I can get by w/o taking soc sec yet (63 years) so can wait on that, can have the wonderful *semi-poor* lifestyle I have now just on my investments and the house paid off...
thus with the mining, I'm still good for 1/2 to 1 year yet (knock wood)..mining that is

and BTC and other Crypto ..can just sit......in 2 years ...at 65 I can get medicare..thus another perk...and I can still sit on crypto...full soc sec is at 66 years 3 months

So, if I keep my same, boring lifestyle, I'll likely still have 2x the money for play...that I had working..and still not touch crypto *unless I wish to take profits and hedge bets*
all the way up to full soc security retirement at 66 years and 3 months!


So, once you sit down and figure all that out....and they already downsized my job from 38 to 33 hrs a week and shifted from 9 hr shifts to 11 hr shifts.....to boot (still was

Full-time thou at 33 hrs) ...well, give me 4 days off in a row, no way to get OT due to shifts and already at 33 hrs and 10k coin...and 4 days to ponder such....eureka!

er well, I'm a bit dense, but even I could figure out that was NOT making a lot of sense anymore...even if all crypto went TULIPS I'd still be no worse off lifestyle wise

sometimes it takes a brick to hit your head, for you to reason yourself into stuff...in my case, it was the job change above and 4 days off already and 10k coin

pretty obvious in hindsight I should pull the trigger

been so damn fast on this date of 11/28/2016 the price of BTC was $705 USD as of this moment it is $9,855.55 ...if you add BCH at $1,561.21 and BTG at $351.95 and BTD $64.68

even with them, bitcoin alts of a dubious price nature comes out to $11,833.39 USD for BTC of many flavors! (again dubious paper profits but still)

Tough to not walk away...when worse case is, I have the same lifestyle as NOT working as If I kept working.....(w/o crypto of any type mining/hoarding/etc) just my regular assets!

thus the crypto hoard made me brave (the 7,500 mh of scrypt-pow mining LTC don't hurt much either!)

Again, I'm a bit dense...but jeez....again it was only $705 USD exactly 1 year ago today.....tough to keep up.....and push this thought of retirement out that fast in 1 year...

Anyway, my Black Swan Event....was the 10k coin and looking at my lifestyle and etc...and going, I can do this ....and don't even have to use BTC and all my Crypto, in any way at this
 
time and only a 'backstop' at this time...so no real risk to pulling the trigger now and quitting the job (sh*t this math worked 3 months ago at 5k coin as well)

but again, its only been a year...hard to grasp such things, until you actually sit down and do the numbers etc

so tulips or not I'm all in..trying to keep the crypto hoard intact..worse case I'm no worse off on retirement then before BTC and crypto LIVES... best case...well best case my mind boggles

because if it went up 10x this year...how am I gonna keep my sanity if it does the same in 2018?

This "Bitcoin Matrix' is an exciting if scary as f*ck place...

I need much higher price to consider not working at all.  I prefer working for myself anyway and do enjoy being productive.  If bitcoin hits $1mil each or something though i likely wouldn't work at all, just invest and travel.

Thanks, dumb and lucky sometimes works...I got my original KNC Jupiter 550gh BTC miner on 0ct 18th 2013 up and running. On that date, BTC was $150 USD. I think
I made 1 BTC a day almost on www.slushpool.org....

I got it, because I was gonna bring up the old bbs/game server for giggles and lose 60 bucks a month in electric (was huge bbs) ..was bored....

got into this thinking, it made sense for wealth xfer...better to have BTC on a USB in a country in which it is prudent to have gold under your hut for the next
revolution....or corrupt gov't or banks etc (Cyprus)...

Also figured, it would be useful for charity contribution worldwide and especially the microloan mini-bank stuff you see in India to get folk out of poverty.

I figured, with difficulty that date a gradual slope, I'd pay the unit off in like 7 months maybe and have maybe 1/2 year to pay house utils before doorstop....

boy, I was wrong......paid it off in 3 weeks and electric and BTC jumped to over 1k by Thanksgiving 2013..then, of course, dumped to $275 or some such in 2014

but by then I had drunk massive amounts of BTC kool-aid and was hooked....been a wild ride since!

But really, at my time of start..it was all hobby.....it kinda went nuts after....

But even 2013 was not soon enough....I had a chance to learn about BTC in 2009..but no one called....

On the other hand, I had a buddy at NASA nicknamed Qazz. He passed in 2005....but met all his buddies at NASA on whale talk chat in 2015...they were showing charts

of how they were trying to find BTC scammer addresses...admitted they had had NO luck...but having fun with the math etc

I asked, did you know Qazz? oh yeah...they all worked together as assembly programmers for Unisys/Nasa.....they all got into BTC in 2009 and were even in 2015 were

BTC billionaires... (at that realization I started banging head on keyboard) so had my buddy lived...he would have called me up in Jan 2009, when I was taking

down the FIVE CPU towers that ran the old BBS (Jan 19th, 2009) and I would have looked at the 5 towers and gone ..SURE....alas no one phoned me

So anyway, IF BTC goes up 10x next year.....those of you reading this may still have a shot...it may never be too late for a few more years yet...for crypto

just saying....I spent 2014 and 2015 mining LTC at like $2 out of boredom....just stick with it

I'm into mining etc, I may get to that point as well...., but pretty busy with the mining stuff for the next 1/2 year at least and need to revamp the house

I MAY be in your boat in a year..but I figure I've worked with the dev disabled for years, I can always just go back and work and/or volunteer, so no issues on a restart

to work if I choose to do so...

nice to have options

that's the thing though. you are working a job already. i don't know about you but most people when they say they want to give up their jobs they are thinking about living of bitcoin that they already have!

otherwise giving up one job for another riskier one such as mining, trading, ... is not really worth it in my opinion.

I have tried to explain that many times , that work isn't only about how much you are getting paid and life may be actually boring without work
but in case you hate work you should replace it by something you enjoy instead of totally giving up work

things can get boring quite easily , my passion for poker was so high 3 years ago and now it's not like it was before

Superb! I guess that there are many that did this or are so close to this, but most don't share.
Most of us dream to get there at some point. And many will do.

I'm ok...I have a hoard of crypto and the mining is extra....back in the day...when BTC was cheap..places on the thread where I say how much BTC I have

you can probably find such...but I'm ok....another 1/3 of that amount in alts...and the mining ..I'm dandy

again, my regular investments/no debt/paid off house etc...allow me to live the lifestyle I have already w/o work...it just took the 10k BTC to wake me up enough

to see such...thus still mining ..still holding..and worse case I get bored ..I can go back and work with dev disabled of volunteer so no real risk on any retirement in MY situation

but as the previous post in the thread, you get busy...BTC was $705 last year at this date.....I needed the 10k as a wake-up call to look around and go....ok I can do this with little

Congrats on taking the plunge. I remember your KnC BTC and LTC setups from back when. Got me thinking why the hell am I still working when I no longer need to? I guess I like my work, but if BTC hits $25K I really won't have any more excuses.

In my case, working with the developmentally disabled, I can always go back and or volunteer. I also train/teach Shotokan Karate-Do (free) at Campus Recreation at the local University.

Thus with work on the house and still mining like heck...I  should be plenty busy enough at least this next year...after that I could very well go back to work....I suppose....

by the by my home mining setups...I still have 2 knc titans in the basement and a baikal 300mh

all my main 7,500 mh is at a data hall in Iowa!
