Do you believe that in the future we will see a great rise of anonymous crypto currency due to the fact that governments are creating rules / regulation to gain control in the crypto world ?

You can already notice that the demand for anonymous cryptos is increasing but it's just the beginning. You can be sure the demand will be bigger in a near future. People are looking for more and more privacy, each having their own reason. These altcoins are offering what Bitcoin doesn't have. The potential for them is quite big compared to the average altcoins.

This is certain. It's critical that crypto avoids government censorship because there will be many jurisdictions that try to ban it. There is work going on with Bitcoin for this, but it is important that anonymity is there as a default. Otherwise, information will be obtained in the parts of the chain that are not anonymised. I think we will see a fully anonymous Bitcoin within a couple of years. I don't think an alt will replace it. For example, Monero is pretty good right now, but it is not scaleable. I think it will be easier to anonymise BTC than to scale Monero. There's a thread here on Bitcoin's Confidential Transactions plan https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2402986.0

There are huge numbers of coin launches that aim primarily on its users being anonymous, so that's already there. Aside from that, it also seems that there are more and more people who are moving their funds away from USD and are now converting to crypto. The recent move of the government and corporations about net neutrality is really making waves, albeit a rather discreet one and people are now making the right choices while they have time.

That will lead to a banning of these specific Crypto currencies and even a blanket ban of ALL Crypto currencies. The governments are tolerating pseudo anonymous coins, because it offers the same anonymity as cash, but 100% anonymity is a whole other story. We should guard against too much confidence that the governments will just sit back and do nothing about Crypto currencies.

Just like alcohol during the prohibition. It won't stop crypto, just like alcohol wasn't stopped.

Government will definitely try to gain control on the crypto related information one day. Today only Indian government visited 9 exchanges to know the details of the Indian crypto traders. On the other hand they are also working to provide a proper framework to the crypto users of India. So the government will try to get the details of the crypto users. Now about the anonymous nature of cryptos are only for the records. No cryptos are actually anonymous. If government wanta to get the details, they will get it. Truly anonymous crypto is just for the books, not for the reality.

Thanks for your replies, I think in general we have the same Idea. My personal bet is, that there will be a run on anonymous crytocurrency in the near future as governments gain more and more controll creating laws and legislations. I would like to invest a little in anonymous cryptocurrency, but i'm not yet sure which one.
To me my investment should fit 2 main criteria: 1: Good potential for future gains 2: A real secure coin for real anonymous daily use. (i'm not a techie and several coins claim to be anonymous, but i'm unable to judge)
Can you please give me your opinion on which one I should choose and why ? (taking both my criteria into account)
Thanks for your advice !

The anonymity is within bitcoin itself. And other coins but some are created centralized. Most of us wants to stay anonymous without tracking transactions because that was the aim of cryptocurrencies. No tax, no fees, anonymous, fast or simply decentralized. But gaining the acknowledgement of government for legaliztion is difficult because government has no reason to allow a system that would lessen banks use for an instance. With the following coins created, coins will be made that will be just the same as fiat. Nothing new. I think people will disregard it once more fees are charged by the government.

But still, bitcoin holders can use mixing services so that no one would be able to trace their transactions. It is for the reason that still most of big whales hold bitcoins, otherwise they would have shifted towards altcoins like monero, zcash. But its still a surprise to see that most of people who need anonymity have not yet shifted to such coins.

1. depends on your time frame 2. Monero is the choice today. Zcash has governance issues (centralisation, premining) In the future, Bitcoin will almost certainly adopt Confidential Transactions. There's a debate right now about whether to make them mandatory (if they are not mandatory, then it becomes somewhat traceable imo). There's a decent critique of zcash here: http://weuse.cash/2016/06/09/btc-xmr-zcash/

if you are afraid of government regulations then you should know that if they succeed in regulating bitcoin, they will also succeed in regulating all the rest of the cryptocurrencies even anonymous coins.
it is because as long as a cryptocurrency is decentralized they can not do anything about it. unless they regulate places that you go to in order to use those currencies. like regulating the exchanges, regulating merchants that are making sales and accepting an anon coin. you will still be subjected to the regulations.

Regulations only succeed if they can be enforced. Try enforcing regulations on atomic swaps

Definitely, as the government of the world desperately try to gain control of the cryptocurrencies around the world and they are using terms such as regulate and threat of banning the cryptocurrency to make their case, i am sure that more services to make crypto anonymous will gain prominence.
