Give your kids their pocket money in Bitcoin

Most parents give pocket money to their kids. If you forget, the kid will remind you about it, and this might be the best opportunity there is to grow the Bitcoin economy. The kids will find a way to spend their Bitcoin the way they want...

So I hope every parent here now gives his kid's pocket money in Bitcoin only.

I've got this idea for a commercial where a mom is paying the babysitter with Goldcoins (GLD). It takes place 3 years in the future when everyone uses GLD for money.

A LARGE majority of the people here are under the age of 21, and I personally think that is a HUGE plus. We have the youngest generation we can get here, and they will carry interest and support for Bitcoin and projects like it for years and years to come. Our generation will also see half of the lifespan for Bitcoin, and we will be able to make sure it works out. Anyone joining in 10 years from now really won't know what they are doing when they suggest changes unless they really look into Bitcoin's history. People joining in 30 years from now may not even care who Satoshi is.

I hadn't thought at all about the silk road. I had thought of ice creams and T shirts. I feel sorry that several people thought I was, hmm, misguided. We are all looking for ways to increase the use of bitcoin, and I'm only suggesting one idea. Doesn't it make sense to start with the young? When I'm talking about bitcoin with the people around me, the young are much more receptive than the old.

I regularly give my kids bitcoin but it's more like a 'college fund'. They're not really expected to be able to spend it easily.

I would never practice covert surveillance on my child. I think this is unethical.
Also, in any relationship there has to be trust. Those who sow distrust will reap distrust.

The best thing is to talk to the kids and explain why some things in the internet are harmful for them at their age. It may be acceptable to block certain contents for younger children, but never without explaining to them the reasons for doing so.

I totally agree. I'll set up my children's computers to block porn, but other than that they're free to do anything on it unless I personally catch them doing something dubious (e.g. cloning phones, really bad black hat hacking, etc.)

My oldest daughter is 7, she tells me bitcoins are not real money they are just pretend  . I am still working on teaching her what money is.

I think it makes more sense to give kids their spending money as cash, and give them money to save for the future in bitcoins. Unless there is something they want to buy online, and then bitcoins would be great.

I set up a bitcoin wallet for my gf and thought of giving her a couple of coins. Then I realized there wasn't anything she could do with them. Foodier doesn't even deliver in her area.

Here's a half a bitcoin timmy - now dont let me catch you on silk road buying up porn or drugs with this!  Would work better if there were 'merchant kit' versions of pdfs out there that taught kids to accept btc in different business ventures like lemonade stands garage sales bookfairs fundraisers etc.

Step 3: print the QR code on a sheet of paper

2) Where would a kid do this?
3) What can kids currently buy with Bitcoin?
4) You forget the mindset of most kids. Any kid aged 13 to 16 receiving Bitcoin "pocket money" is BOUND to do extensive research to where they can spend it, and about 95% of them will come across Silk Road. Not good.

They can buy child porn. From what I hear it's porn, but for children.
