If I were 16 and just learning about Bitcoin because someone (parents?) gave me some "pocket money" in Bitcoin, there's no question that I'd find out what Silk Road is. There's too much information about it and a simple Google search will bring up at least a few pages that mention it.
Just because they can easily find it doesn't mean they'll go on it, I'm getting tired of just how patronising and arrogant a lot of adults are when it comes to children, they're far more intelligent than they give them credit for, in a lot of cases they're going to be more intelligent than the adults. Don't make the mistake of thinking because they can't express themselves very well yet that they're stupid, most children I know of would never bother with something like Silkroad or even gambling sites.
That said, any adult I have to tell this to never gives a fuck to begin with and insists they need to lord over them for their own safety.
Did you actually
read my post before taking two sentences out of context and trying to make them look like they meant the exact opposite of what I said?
If I were 16 and given Bitcoin, I would definitely find out about Silk Road and I would probably look.. but
I would't buy anything there. (bolded since that was my actual point that you obviously missed)
I doubt most teens would buy anything there, for a few reasons:
1) Not all teens are into drugs, if I had to guess I'd say most probably aren't, if drugs being readily available were going to change that then every teen who goes to school would already be addicted to crack.
2) Most teens who are into drugs try to hide it from their parents. If they bought on SR instead of on the streets or at school, how are they going to explain these packages they're getting in the mail when their parents ask?
3) Why the f*** would you buy illegal drugs online and have them shipped to you in the mail? Maybe I know better (and knew better at 16) than most kids do since my dad worked for the post office.. but buying illegal drugs through the mail is a horribly stupid idea. You're just begging to get busted.
