My guess is hitting 10 000 was a milestone for a lot of people and it went as high as 11.5k+ earlier today then a whale sold off or something and here is the problem with a bunch of people who own a % selling.. they create a snowball effect and others panic and get scared and start selling. How low will it go? No one knows as for long term hodlers you have nothing to worry about : ). So just hold

The news came out that the nasdaq will accept bitcoin futures, and can play to lower it, because it is set to it negatively

Broke $10000 yesterday then broke $11000 today. Probably rose too quick so falling back until price recovers again.

I'd say your description is about spot on, I think it'll find a level about 8500 and maybe close out in the low 9000s by the end of the day. Too much money and too much hype never ends well. It will be interesting to see how people react to this 2k drop in a matter of hours, for many it will be the first time they've seen such volatility.

Simplest answer you can get here: bitcoin is speculative currency and speculation bubble popped. There is correction of Bitcoin price. Coinbase is unavailable too. It always happens during dumps.

The fall is not going to last very long, bitcoin to go back up to where it was earlier very soon and hit $15,000 soon. Just HODL Cool

Might be a good time to buy while its at a dip. Usually it dips then comes back at an all time high within a week or two.

Litecoin and ether are falling too. Not sure why but I'm sure they'll all be up again tomorrow. It's the time to buy!

It wont go up if previous pump was artificially created by eastern guys, you know who.

And if that is true, we will go down this time, way more down then just to, for now, $9k per BTC. Wild wild east?

Well, I guess everyone is trying to protect themselves from the fall and are selling at market. Great contrarian moment, I must say. Of course, for those who have the nerves and some market experience.

In my opinion, this is a slight correction happening. Big whales having a massive selloff, others are panic selling, some are taking profit. It is the best opportunity to accumulate more and prepare for a take off next month to start the year 2018 at a new all time high price of bitcoin.

Nothing strange has happened to my opinion. In one moment today Bitcoin price crossed over 11000$ and then many thought that price will go all the way to 15000$ but I would say this minor correction was expected and maybe the price will fall a bit more but this is not time to sell and don’t sell, there is no reason for that. Buy if you can because soon the price will start to rise again.

Whales taking profits.

Even more so whales taking profits and feeding off peoples fear and inexperience to then buy back at a lower price. It is the same thing that has happened time and time again only this time it's larger dollar swings. Bitcoin pumped to over 11k with very little actual volume and it seemed only a matter of time before such a correction.

Bitcoin rose very fast over $11,000. Now some whales are taking profit. It is a normal correction. I believe we will see more ATHs this year!

Maybe this is the price correction we've been waiting for or maybe just a normal fall back after surging up quickly. So I guess no need to panic, never mind those big fish who sold there BTCs, that was part of their strategy to make an income. We have to remember that each of us has our own target when to sell and until when to hodl it. It may have a big effect on the current price but we know that it will recover and fly to the moon again until another peak will be reached.

This is maybe indeed the price correction we've been expecting to occur. However I'm not so sure. It might be an early one while the major correction will occur later on. The reason bitcoin is dropping like this is because its rising way to fast...

Why? Try free markets. Try correction was inevitable. Try people are cashing out. Take your pick but there are tons of reasons why the market is doing this at the moment. Don't panic though let it happen it is only natural and eventually bitcoin will come back up. It may take a few weeks or a month or two but it will come back up. Slowly but surely the death of BTC isn't today.
