Whats the difference between posts and activity?

Hi I see there is a change to the forums.  I am wondering whats the difference between the posts and activity?

Activity is measured in average days rather than total posts.

Activity is the lesser of the following two numbers:

• Total posts
• Fourteen multiplied by the number of two week periods in which you have at least one post
