Hey guys, I have seen Bitinstant and a few other popular exchanges but they don't accept Australian purchases. I'm wondering which exchanges are best for those who want to buy bitcoins in Australia? Particularly those who have actually bought BTC from Australia. Thanks

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

coinjar.io is currently having some technical difficulty - they are taking money but not issuing BTC, they sent an email out last night apologizing for all the transactions sitting in limbo but here we are 1 day later and they still have taken the deposited $$ and have issued no BTC - They sent affected users a $2 voucher - which is nice, but I wish they would just fix their core operation.

I have used

bitinnovate.com (suspended trading now) - took less than 4 hours for coins to arrive in my wallet

spendbitcoins.com - great took less than 2 hours to arrive in my wallet

MtGox - after approval wire transferred money took 7 days too slow

I use the following exchanges
BTC-e
Cryptsy
MtGox
Vircuex

BTC-e has so far been the favorite

I use Mtgox for withdrawls into AUD as they are the only ones who I have found you can setup an Australian bank with (have not tested withdrawl yet as love my bitcoins)

So basically
Buy bitcoins from spendbitcoins and send to your online wallet at the exchange of your choice.
Setup approved banking with mtgox so you have option for withdrawl into your Australian bank account.
Send coins to mtgox when you want to withdraw if you use a separate exchange.

hope this helps for all you aussies.

Bittrade is pretty efficient , cash deposit at a branch only AFAIK.

Have any Aussies transfered funds to Bitstamp via International bank wire , if so how long did it take ?.
