I have tried 2 headsets personally.
Logitech G35: Great sounding headset, virtual 7.1 surround sound, good for gaming and listening to music but it survived only 3 years with me before one of the ear just fell off..
Razer Tiamat 7.1: Really great for music, keeps the sound much more close to the original intended sound, much more than the G35. Mic is loud and crystal clear for skype calls etc..
As for price, they are expensive, but great quality from Razer.
Those are my experiences, don't think it can help you, but hey it might help someone else!
