and how much power do certain ones have?

i've been reading about bitcore/btx's ongoing issues with coinmarketcap.com about listing the correct supply and it's gotten me thinking about how much power certain sites have. coinmarketcap certainly is one of them. an incorrect listing on there could really mess with a coin.

what are the other ones out there? i'm not talking exchanges here. we all know how powerful some of them are, i'm talking more the news and service side of things.

Your not going to get much more influential that this forum, there are some respectable people who post here that have been involved in Bitcoin fundamentally. The most influential developers of bitcoin core, used to use the forum for posting updates and discussion of the current state of the client. Hal finney, who was one of the most inspirational and influential used the forum.

The guy above me already said it, but obviously this site takes the cake by far. It's where the development in the early stages was discussed largely, not exclusively of course, but a good chunk of the development and consensus' on the direction of bitcoin has been driven by discussions right here. Bitcoin is not a multi-billion dollar industry and it effectively had it's home here since it's birth.

The most influential website for me is Bitstamp because Bitcoinwisdom pulls the information from there for us to use.

Bitcoin.org maybe is not the most influential crypto website but it has collected all the needed information for a newbie and published them in such way that this website has put many member to crypto , members coming from google who were interested in Bitcoin and didn't know about this forum. A bitcoin user without information from this forum after he has got initial guidance from Bitcoin.org is not a real bitcoin user.

Better question is,

Which website is getting the most bitcoin cover for Non-crypto people?

Always doubt.
