Where do you guys store yours? I just moved mine to a safe deposit box, but I learned that they're not FDIC insured. Also, when I signed up, the bank made me sign a contract basically saying they have no liability for anything. I'm not so much concerned about a bank robber, since they probably won't have the time to rip open boxes, especially when there may only be wills, deeds, and shit, but I am worried about a rouge bank employee.
I guess it comes down to whether they are safer at your house, or in a bank.

I don't think you need to worry about a rogue bank employee. Their security is pretty tight. Even if your house is extremely secure, it's a good practice to not give people a large financial incentive to try and break into your home.

Good fireproof safes are not cheap. Stick with the safety deposit box. The bank has security beyond what you could reasonably afford at home.

With safes, fire proof ones are fairly cheap (less than 500 usd). What you need to look at are the burglary ratings - you want UL TL-15 or higher. These are where it gets expensive, but worth it if you have a valuable collection. Table below shows ratings and recommend values for each level of security. See here: https://www.safeandvaultstore.com/pages/burglary-ratingsOne thing to consider with bank boxes is to select a higher up box to protect against flood damage if you live in a flood prone area.

I keep mine in a safe at a friends company (they are staffed 24/7). I would not use a safe deposit box because they have been raided over the years (google it). Your best bet is a small fireproof safe that is well hidden at your house or at a family members. I sort of do the same thing for my offline coins...I can not access them without driving to multiple locations.

Like multi-sig but for physical items. Nice, and congratulations on the copper thing.

Not at that point yet, but I always figured rebar through a safe bottom cemented directly into a sub basement should work, no?

They sell safe anchoring kits. You just drill the concrete and use the self expanding bolts to secure it.

I keep a few smaller ones like a .1 cas and then other coins in a fireproof safe at home so I can show physical coins to family when they come over. The higher dollar stuff at the bank now. The security is very high so i sleep good

One thing I read online about at-home safes is that a potential robber could just force you to open it if you are home. That's one reason it's better to store them off-site. I guess my choices would be either a safe deposit box or a really good hiding place at your house. I think well-hidden is probably better than in a safe if you store them at home.

I have read about boxes being raided and even though it has happened, it's still extremely rare [knocks on wood].

I think it is a smart move to have some sort of a safe to store you valuables, such as coins and bars of silver. Possibly guns too.

I hear you can insure safe deposit boxes as well, with very reasonable rates due to the security a bank provides. However im not sure how the valuation of the actual contents would work if your storing loaded crypto which can swing in price rapidly.

Unfortunately I lost my entire collection in a tragic boating accident We must have been on the same boat. Dammit, boats are not safe. Physical coins are a pain in the butt compared to good old paper wallets simply stored at multiple locations.
