you can use the following websites to calculate your earnings based on hashrate, difficulty, price, cost,...:
https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/
https://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/

the things to keep in mind is that for mining bitcoin you will need an ASIC which may not be easy to buy everywhere. specially if you want the latest. and with it you can mine bitcoin and those coins that can be mined with ASIC.
but for mining ethereum you need graphic cards (GPUs) and that can be bought anywhere. and with it you can mine a lot of different altcoins.

additionally you have to consider your electricity cost, cooling, difficulty rise, price drops specially in altcoins, and other possible factors like for example ETH moving to PoS which means you will no longer be able to mine it.

Isn't the ASIC available on online stores ? How are people mining the bitcoins currently ?

Nowadays mining of both of these cryptos is very difficult and it brings profit very rare. It is better mining for ZCash.

It's easier to mine ethereum than bitcoin. But then again 10% of ethereum is not the same as 10% of bitcoin.

You need to buy the latest in greatest ASICs to mine Bitcoin, these devices get depreciated really quickly after a couple of months since everyone gets them and the difficulty rises and then they become some place holder, since you cannot sell it afterwards, as for ETH you mine it with GPUs the difficulty doesn't rise that much not only that but you mine other cryptos and resell your hardware if you need so

I would advise Etherium like shared above it requires a GPU card which you can buy far more easily then a bitcoin miner.

I just started mining and decided it was best to go the cloud mining route.  There is a great site called www.stellarmining.com for ether and its much cheaper than other ones I saw.  They are sold out but there is a pre-sale for early January. Just my opinion do your own dd.

Right now I think it is best to mine Ether. What kind of hardware do you have. What is the difficulty and so on... Smiley Maybe check other minable coins  too ?

at the moment i'm mining ETH or ETC...use whattomine.com to see what would be the best for U...i'm mining it with GPU rigs
and about BTC...u have to get SHA-256 miner like bitmain or antminer...but i think the hash dificulty is to high to get some good profit...

The recommended mining rigs for Bitcoin are very much expensive and could even take you a lot of time before recovering. ETH would be a good alternative.

The phenomenon of the rising value of Ethereum currency that occurred in the last month up to now makes the netizens think that Ethereum will be an exterminator of BitCoin. It may also be driven by volatile Ether trading volumes. When talking about his vision and mission: BitCoin is a digital currency created to be used in lieu of a monetary system controlled by the Bank. Meanwhile, Ethereum also created to merelasikan Platfrom 2.0 Blockchain who execute all applications contract wise where he is required to consume tokens called Ether as fuel.
