Buddy of my has asked me to help him figure out what web wallet he had a few years ago. Has 12 or so bitcoins sitting on it. He used to mine with antpool and still has transaction records as to where he sent the bitcoin to. But he can't remember what website he used for hosting his wallet at that time. This was end of 2015 into 2016. Is there anyway to tell where a wallet is hosted by the address? I'm sure he will be able to log into the site once he figures out what site it is.

Depends. You need to know the address first. If its an online shared wallet (ie. Exchanges), then you probably can. Most of these wallets sends the funds immediately to a bunch of known addresses when they receive it.

If its an online wallet that isn't shared (ie, Blockchain.info), then there wouldn't be any signs. They do not have unique ways of generating addresses and its impossible to differentiate which is which.

PM me the address if you'd like.
