I have 2 modules of DDR3, 2 GB each. Can't get single module of 4 GB. Besides plus on energy is there any negative on using two modules instead of one.

No, it's usually better to use two sticks instead of one in order to take advantage of dual channel.

Dual channel is better than a single one, but is not by very much.
You can get probably between 0% and 20% increase of performance depending of what you do.
In some cases single channel performs better, but the are really rare.
Overall i always go with dual channel option if possible.

I normally use two modules anyway as they are often cheaper for some reason than the single larger size. For example a 8 GB module often cost a bit more than 2 4 GB sticks. I also like getting the dual channel performance as other have mentioned.

The short answer, assuming that this thread is intentionally placed in this subforum, is no. There would be no substantial difference.
The change in power consumption that you mentioned would be negligible at the scales a typical dedicated mining rig would be running at.

I do not think it will make a big difference. For me it will not cause any problems. I have been using it for a long time and there is no difference with the one slot I use 4 gb.

Only for gaming it makes a difference. For mining no difference what-so-ever.
