So, when I started reading on this forum, I got curious about alt coins. So my questions is, what alt coins are a better investment? How to start investing (assuming I have 500 US dollars) on the altcoins that you suggested?

I think ethereum is best crypto currency after bitcoin so it will have bright future so it is wise to invest on ethereum to get good profits in some years.I hope Ethereum price will rise upto $2000 at end of 2018.
If you want good profits in short term there are some altcoins available but it is highly risky because the price of that coin may dump at any moment so make your investment on ethereum to have risk free profit.

There are lots of potential ICO.. I think you should pick one which best for you (check their whitepaper,roadmap,etc). I'll say ETH is the best for now, But there are still lots of good altcoins, maybe you can try investing in stratis as well. But assuming you have 500$, I think don't invest it all in altcoins, buy some btc..

Go for trending altcoins, there are lots existing ones, all with developments but that's doesn't guarantee their price to boom. I believe the strongest indication of a successful altcoin investment depends on their target market, product, trends and hype. I would usually avoid altcoin project which are too abstract or difficult to understand, the target market should be huge and their roadmap are realistic in reaching them. Trend, hypes are useful in my opinion, like crypto-card project are a pretty good year because it's being view as more realistic in reaching us which always assumed to have cards in payments, next year i believed it's about time for existing huge companies to look into crypto, so don't miss out any news regarding that.

Altcoins are the best way to get great money with good profit from cryptocurrency market you have an option to earn the great profit from it because from last two years cryptocurrency market is booming and shining the great opportunity to earn great profit but with good market understanding for example this time bitcoin is pumping day by day and almost altcoins are going down so this is not good time to enter in altcoin until the bitcoin hardfork will finished.

I would advise against asking random people on the internet what to invest in. Take some time to do your own research, watch how the market plays, pick a few coins and track their development, community, price, etc, and you will have a better understanding of what to invest in.

Since you said altcoins, and only looking at Top10, and excluding bgold because I don't really see any value in it, and I think it would never be there if it wasn't created from a bitcoin fork, I would say that Dash, Ethereum, and LTC, are good investments. I wouldn't forget Monero and IOTA as well, and although I would consider these two as more riskier, I wouldn't ignore them.

LTC and Dash will probably be the best choices to work as a payment method. Ethereum is the most reliable platform for investing in blockchain projects, and IOTA could be a better solution for micro-payments than ripple or stellar. Monero is good for privacy, and it will be around for a while as well.

Investment in Altcoin can be a great deal right now , also investing in ICO's is also a very good choice , but you must search them a while. Lately , I've been discover TokenPay guys. For those who knows the power of MTE and anon coins , please check this thread.

You should wait for some good project with a great and active team behind the coin.. Its always good to real names Do some researches about the project before you buy!

Definitely do your own research on any suggestions and also if you do go for an ICO be even more cautious.  You can't go wrong long term investing in the top coins but there is lots to made with all altcoins.

A couple of suggestions Litecoin, Waves, Blocknet.

It has been answered a lot of times in here, if you go to the Altcoin Discussion (in where you posted this thread) You are able to see that there are at least five threads asking the same question.

Why do you need to create another one? You could just click in to one of them and that is all, i dont see any necessity of keep spamming this forum with useless contributions.

And in case that you are so "lazy" that you do not even want to do your own research, just put all your funds in Bitcoin, ethereum, monero & litecoin, those are the "best" picks that you can make in order to succeed.

actually there are lots of altcoin you can make investments, you can do a little research for it, so you can adjust to the budget you have

U have some altcoins that still are not in their real value, for example: Stratis, Waves, Pivx, AirSwap, Salt and some others... U can invest to these coins these coins have bright future..

If you want to take the safe route and want to see your investment turn into profits. I would suggest you invest into something like dash, ethereum, monero, those top alt coins. You might see smaller profits but atleast you will end up seeing profits.. for bigger profits maybe look into some ico and hope they become very successful.

With a starting budget of 500 USD I would focus on good ICO.

Currently ongoing for example gladius. The space of cybersecurity will be the next big topic I think. Recently finished is Hacken. Also in that space Remme is coming up. If you want a good upside check for a good team, low market cap and existing prototype or better a working product and existing clients (recently wabi was a good example). A higher market cap can be acceptable for existing companies that come to the crypto space with a good use case for blockchain like loci.

Really start digging information plenty of good stuff on ICO and crypto in general on youtube and here in the forum. I also recommend joining the twitter and discord groups of projects that are of interest for you. It is a big world. You will have to do some exploring.

Well, up to the present there are more than one altcoins that still worth to invest in. This will depend on your belief and research about the coins which you are going to buy.  Like Ethereum, Waves, Adx, and Xem this coins are just my opinion and suggestion which I think for me its a good choice to invest in. But of course, still in the end the decision will be yours. Good luck
