The computer I was sending the bit to was 1 foot away.

I sent a lite coin,  it took 20 seconds for 1  and  another over a week and still not arrived yet.

"seen by 44 peers" - Why are you still using MultiBit? Roll Eyes after all the troubles we went through to get your private keys and coins OUT of multibit... seriously, STOP USING MULTIBIT...

Export your private keys... import them into Electrum... send your transactions from Electrum.

if they send back my bit where will it go the private key and new wallet?  I'm not going to use it again. I'm still learning slowly!!

Buddy, the same thing happened to me, but by God's grace I didn't even loose a single satoshi. Forget about multibit and install electrum using multibit's seed words. You will find all the coins confirmed in your new wallet. Its basically restoring your old wallet in electrum. If you have any doubt, just pm HCP. He is expert in that. He will explain you everything step by step. It was HCP who helped me to import private key from multibit to electrum.

Stop thinking more this one is accurate, it is the only possible solution to get back your funds.

It will go to your new wallet that you will create using your private keys.
