From what I have read, a 6870 is only likely to get about 300 Mhash....whereas a 5870 can get about 400 Mhash.

Hmmm is 300 correct for a 6870? Does anyone have one and can confirm their numbers?

Why so low for a 6870?

They are supposed to be a new card and much faster arent they?

o.0 you've hit 320? i hit 292 with the clock@1ghz. i COULD bring it upto 1040 but i wonder if thats bad for it considering my Other 6870BE can only fucking clock upto 960 before it crashes. I wanted to RMA the fucking thing and say that it didnt work, But it does, it just sucks at overclocking. Go with the 5xxx if you plan to only mine

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

The biggest differance is the # of (SP) Stream Proccessors.
5870 has 1600
6870's have 1120

I am running at 290 right now using poclbm with the 3% patch. but managed to push the card past the 950 clock I have it at now. which gave me a stable higher speed. I just well decided not to push the card to hard.

if you want the higher speeds you have to up the voltage. lower the ram speed to 300 (helps keep the card cooler) and push that clock speed up.

aye you might get a little more using flags -v -w 128 -f 0
If you are not using them settings already.

It seems like every card just works a little different 1 person gets 300 another cannot push it past 280 etc. I am just not willing to put this card to max until its at least paid for its replacement.

I have a couple of 5870 in a free standing motherboard overclocked @ 1000/347 and a few tweaks with phoenix and they are each stable mining at near constant 453Mhash/sec. But the machine can not be used for anything else. Probably best to look at https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison
