Do your research before sending a random troll on this forum all your personal information like your name and address. Something you should never do here, something that someone will probably use against you for any reason.

Anyone can have a silver or gold coin stamped with and design or logo, Smoothie just decided to start making them and selling his own name and design at an outrages mark up.

The casasicus Physical BitCoins, are not "original physical BTC" and these "lelena LTC coins" are not original either, because the developers of these coins did not make them, just some random user. Again, you can have your own physical cryptos made, out of any metal, hell make your own physical FTC if you want. You wont be paying as much as this guy wants.

+ You are paying for something with no guarantee your getting anything in return, so if you get scammed its your own damn fault, I have seen more elaborate set-ups from scammers, Do not give anyone on this forum your personal information!

Firstly, have actual proof of no-good if you are going to call out something as a real scam. I see someone making a product (that he has shown in picture to exist) and selling them for what he perceives to be a fair price. The market will decide if it is or is not.

Yes there are many services that stamp custom coins, and like many other industries price only goes down with volume created. Doing this yourself for only a couple coins would likely cost you well over what Smoothie is charging for his, and perhaps not everyone is a designer or has any interest in going the DIY route that you think is so simple and easy (have you actually tried this yourself to have a basis for your slander?). Creating custom coins means creating the tooling to stamp/cast them, and this is never cheap.

I would assume Smoothie isn't making a million of these things, just a limited run. This "outrageous markup" is likely due to this fact, and wanting to turn a profit for his effort as well. And unlike standard coin stamps, these must also be hand encoded with a private key and loaded for another layer of work to be done. So no, not everyone does this. Physical Bitcoin/Litecoins are not run-of-the-mill coins.

Everyone knows Satoshi himself never stamped the first physical "Bitcoin", this is a mute point to make. These are simple paper wallets that happen to look like fiat coins and are made of precious metal. They are novelty items mostly for people who think it is cool to have coin they can physically hold, and be a conversation piece. They can also be a way of long term cold storage (paper degrades over time), though other methods would be more feasible and much cheaper to do the same job.

Smoothie is deleting your posts because YOU are a troll with a newjack account posting unfounded BS all over his thread, and this one, for no real reason.

You have 14 activity, you registered in May and most of your posts are bullshit (John K the troll? Bitch please.). Get the fuck out.

Smoothie actually seems serious with this, you realize.
L O L   your kidding right, great, another one of you people. I still find it amazing that somehow you pizza faced kids sitting in your mothers basement with a raw dick from jerking it everyday to computer porn, still think that intelligence is somehow related or based on your "activity" number, or register date on a forum, LOL, thanks for the laugh.

Are you actually Hydroponica?

People who are saying "don't buy them" are not missing the point. It's not worthy of being called a scam, because the terms are clearly laid out for you. This is what you will receive if you pay this much. Maybe these prices wouldn't fly in another type of business, but PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO PAY THIS MUCH. For example, computer technicians charge hundreds of dollars to do nothing but run a virus scanner. People are willing to pay that much for it, so that is what they charge.

Good example, it proves that you are indeed missing the point. That is also a scam or ripoff IMHO. lol

Quote
Additionally, you're only looking at the cost of the raw materials. The people who did the custom work to forge these coins, you think they work for free? The expensive tamper-proof custom holograms that protect the private key, you think the companies that make them just GIVE them away? How about Smoothie himself, not only working to put all of this together, but manually printing private keys and Litecoin addresses to prepare these coins? You think ink and paper are free? Doesn't Smoothie deserve to be paid for his work?

So, let me tell you this in closing: If you think it's a rip-off, DON'T BUY THEM.

I am not only looking at cost of raw materials, if you actually read my whole post.  I am not saying there should be no premium attached or that smoothie shouldn't make money on them, but he is asking far too much if you ask me.  I have seen others produce limited runs of custom designed silver rounds for $3-$4 over spot, and while the holograms may add a few cents to the price, they are still cheap and in no way justify the kind of price gouging going on with these things.

Look at the bitcoin paper wallet.  0.1ish BTC for 10 hologram stickers shipped.  Sure, it may cost more to get a round one custom printed to fit the back of the silver piece, but expensive they are not, just because they are shiny does not mean they were expensive. Grin

lol at a failed scammer calling smoothie a scammer.

i partially agree that the coins are a little overpriced. i hope he lowers the prices slightly on new runs. at the very least, he is offering a new and desired service. then again i also think casascius coins are a slight ripoff too lol.

You call it a scam, the market calls it fair. You lose.

Just because some people are too willing to overpay, "the market" deems it "fair".  Hilarious.  Just like your computer technician example, I know better than the market in this particular case.  How exactly do I lose by not wasting my money on overpriced, useless, crap? I don't, but you win, more silly overpriced crap available for you to buy!  Grin

Quote
Holograms add a few CENTS to the price? You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. High quality tamper proof custom holograms cost a fuck of a lot, from what I've heard. And it makes sense, as your design goes into a database that companies look at and will only produce for you, according to CoinHoarder, who also was going to make physical Litecoins.

Basically, you think people are willing to pay too much for a product. If this is true, then someone will create another line of physical silver Litecoins for less, undercutting Smoothie, and he will lose business. That's how a free market works.

Yes, cents.  Maybe you shouldn't believe everything you're told in the forums and research it for yourself.  You can buy nice tamper evident hologram stickers for real cheap, and I found at least one custom printing company that charges $65 for setting up your custom design on their printers, for smoothie that would be 6.5 cents + cost of plastic stickers + printers premium.  They aren't expensive, at least not enough to justify the 15LTC premium.  But they are shiny, so I'm sure folks will buy them anyway  Tongue lol

I generally believe that Smoothie will deliver. Although, I'm sure he is aware, as well as just about everyone else, that if he was in it for the long con, this would be about the time to bail. Although, self interest kind of prevents him from doing so if he isn't lazy. With people throwing cash at him hand over fist, he stands to make a better profit off of premiums that he gets by legitimately selling batches of Physical LTC.

Always bet on self interest.

From the first page of this thread.

i doubt it is a scam

Nothing is changed. I just like the idea of cypherdoc holding LTC. For the same reason why I gave Juke Jr. 1337 LTC that he still holds! I find that shit funny.

Not everything is an attack at you smoothie, if you are not going to scam then stop telling everyone you are not going to scam. Just ignore the trolls.

Did you not see my 2 coins I ordered from you? Did you not notice I was one of your first orders (going to guess in the first 5)"?

Take a chill pill and stop this insanity.  I'm not calling you a scammer!

Only for Goat given his fetish for whining about the smallest details that are very irrelevant to being legitimate vs. being a scam. Now that he has cleared his position up on whether or not he thinks I am a scammer, I would also think he would stop his whining about every little thing.

Wait, Smoothie is offering refunds?

Yeah he has offered me one several times. He thinks I'm claiming he is a scammer. All I am doing is trying to let people know that their are risks here. Hell for all we know someone hacked smoothies computer now and has all the keys. Things can go wrong even if smoothie does not try to steal, shit can happen. Also private keys might have been messed up when smoothie made them, who knows. Point is, there is risk.

But smoothie is doing the if you say anything "bad" then you have to get a refund like BFL used to do. Kinda sad really.

Goat no one is forcing you to take a refund. BFL forced people to take refunds. Your analogy is failed. Kinda sad really.

Anyone can be a scammer at any time. Yes. Do people have to trust me and buy my coins? No. It is very simple.

As far as standards go have you smeared any crap on Casascius' thread yet? Or wait is there a double standard when it comes to warning people about the risks of purchasing such coins?

Your bias can be smelled even through the internet.

Seems smoothie the king troll goes crazy and calls Theymos to protect him once he gets a taste of trolling.

Good job buddy.

The point was to get your attention. And it looks like it did.

And now you admit...you were trolling in my thread. Now I am justified in my claims.

Mike was very open in his threads and said that people should not trust him and listed why. Had he not done so I would have done it. Anyway I have said nothing that Coblee did not say in your thread. Why don't you offer him a refund?

Re-read my thread Goat, I warned people not to purchase my coins before considering the risks. Did you read that part of the thread or did you just assume I did not do that?

Coblee posted in a respectful way, unlike you. that is the difference, respect.

You failed to say what the risks were, I'm just helping you out mate.

If Coblee already did it, how does your posts make it any more impactful?

I've stated people to really consider their purchase before purchasing.

Now I am justified in my claims.

Lol, so you were trying to get me banned for "trolling". Asking on topic questions and responding to your questions is fair play man. Deal with it.

Nope. there you go assuming my intentions.

Intentions (crystal clear): were to get your attention to stop smearing your crap over my thread.

He did not post in this thread. I am posting in this thread.

I should have just quoted him here so you could attack him... Man, just place me on ignore and get over it...

Yes, he did it in my thread. At the heart of the issue.

Why would I attack Coblee? The guy is a stand up guy, respectful, met him in person and know him personally. You on the other hand I have not, yet I get the gist we wouldnt get along much in person anyway. That is fine.
