So read the bottlecaps thread and love this idea

Quote
Anyone out there interested in toying with a skinnable winamp style QT? We would like to make an addition to bottlecaps allowing it to be skinned maybe even just basic snap in a logo and colors to start. With that being said its opensource so this would allow pretty much any coin to be skinned. Anyone interested in this project? Send me a PM or heck steal the idea make it for your coin and well add it haha. Either way I think skinnable wallets are a great feature that could benefit all the coins. Who wants the challenge?

Can you say PIPboy 2000 skin?

John Eden

Anyone interested in putting some bitcoin as a reward for a successful implementation?

I'd agree, most clients look pretty crappy and/or unoriginal. I have a total of 0 bitcoins or I'd donate to the cause, but I agree it's a good idea.

well nibble was the first to put a picture in the boring grey area - but a skinnable theme would rock -

I know some people - but they are pretty busy at the moment , but i'll bring it up at least.

im messing with making some custom skins for qt's just for personal use... hopefully this project gets some attention, not that a wallet needs bells and whistles, but the current setup is so damn ugly.

MP3 players and don't need bells and whistles either but for some reason they are popular. Steve Jobs made a killing showing the world that the human interface is just as important to the technology as the technology itself. Glad you have something going be great to get this some more attention and get some open source development.

fear not BitJohn

i am the Steve Jobs of Cryptocurrency

See:

just can't code which kinda sucks.

in fact i already told the Samsung guys what they had to do to fix Touchwiz on the tablet - guess what?

they ignored me completely = Touchwiz on a tablet still sucks dick. < they are Korean after all, even if a US colonial power.<

- I offered Facebook a way to make their shares 50USD a pop with an invention i had , (admittedly i didn't push that too much)  instead of my idea they failed miserably with so half backed launch of some retard FB phone.

Oh the list goes on....

I love the skin idea - it has the "Steve" tick of approval !

: D

of course when you where brainstorming this , the Skins are made by just good ole anyone so this loops out of Copyright = genius.

so that free-market approach gets the ++ tick of approval ! !

really hope someone can get this happening and soon !

I was planning on doing something similar for Flaxscrip, including completely redesigning the GUI so it's more functional. There's so many features of bitcoin based crypto currencies it just doesn't handle at all, and there's so much empty space to put it in.

Yeah I really like it kinda got the idea after opening it. I think the real innovation is making it so anyone can create the theme for any coin they want.

I don't have much BTC to donate, but I'd be willing to donate some of what I have toward making this a reality, where do I sign up as a supporter?

If we get to that point Ill post a group wallet for everyone to toss in for the Dev who writes it up. I too will throw BTC in.

Hey guys, I love this idea!

I can see websites offering custom skins for wallet-qt's a la winamp now...kinda nostalgic!

edit:

Code a stock ticker into the wallet while you're at it. Smiley

Wallets can be so much more than they are today!

It's a fantastic idea - I'd love to see skins and kinds of "plug-ins".

skins obviously would theme "plug-ins" would add "non-essential" features , that is to say they wouldn't mess with he block structure/security.
