ArbiInnovate has a question for everyone. If you registered to host with us, what would you like to have in your hosting package?
Any answers accepted :-)

I'm definitely not putting bitcoind with coins in shared hosting - I need to own the metal. If you can offer something like macminicolo, maybe.

Lots of bandwidth and decent processing power. Storage space is secondary to those two things.

Basically, yeah. I wouldn't mind a low-end dedi either But now we're heading into the pricier section of hosting. I need it to be cheap.

I wasn't clear on what type of hosting?
If Web hosting - SSL certificate, SQL DB's and unlimited bandwidth.
If VPS or Dedi hosting - SSH and full unfettered access.

Every decent hosting provider provides this in one variation then the other. It's just service and price really : p

I may have missed another thread but this one doesn't make sense to me either. I'd want the above if I was looking for web hosting.

unlimited bandwidth.
Not going to happen. Go on ANY site offering "unlimited" anything and ask them what your actual limits are. You'll get a response like 5 GB.

What do people want in their hosting packages? often people want more simplicity and less bullshit and no rip-offs on optional components

I'm very interested to know why people like seeing "unlimited"? Do you anyone actually use unlimited? Is it just appealing for those with low budgets? Is it just because they 'promise' you unlimited? Would a service that tells you exactly what you get not going to be better? I'm genuinely curious about this because I actually want to understand. I see a service offering unlimited anything attracting those that need a lot of that resource causing bottlenecks for everyone else. I'd prefer a high quality reliable service than one pegged with resource hogs but that's just me.

Hosting biz is highly competitive.

Ah, I see - I thought you meant things like bandwidth, IP addresses etc. What do you consider fair engineer time costs and what minimum time increments would be fair?

I suppose most standard support ops expected to be free and if we are talking about "extra mile" kind of work, like remote hands, custom sysadmin work on behalf of the customer etc... it is not really something that most professional users are too worried about. For all I care, it could be up to 50-100$ an hour in 15 minute increments, or slightly higher depending on location and type of hosting. It is not uncommon for biz clients to pay their own sysadmins up to 100$/hour or more and they should not be too worried about this, particularly considering that when one has a proficient sysadmin involved need of such service almost never arises.
