I lived there six seasons playing poker and advantageous slots.
I was there when Vegas hosted the NCAA finals when a myriad of killings occurred and the casinos lost money because the demographics of the patrons arrived with empty pockets. The city's police force prepared two years for the event.
Ironically, the following week was some Nascar race, bringing to the city a completely different class of people--Rednecks. No police prep (to speak of) and no killings. Also, the casinos made out like a bandit, making up for the previous week's lost.
I was also in Biloxi during Black Spring Break. The sport of choice was flash mobbing businesses. Needless to say the staff at the registers weren't busy. Walmart was their favorite target. Again, the casino lost money, yet the city was packed with wall-to-wall people--literally.
