Subject came up in the altcoin section about creating a skinnable qt eg Winamp. Though the idea was for altcoins this is something that would benefit Bitcoin as well. We are a generation that with the influence of Steve Jobs has found that beauty with technology is the way to go. Lets hip up the QT and make it customizable with skins. So im all over it! Wait I cant code anywhere near this level anyone care to take this on?
Interesting idea.
Customizable individual background image and sound by incoming (and outgoing eventually also) transactions would be also nice.

So much money going into The Bitcoin Foundation, and so much going to some of the core dev, why isn't stuff like this getting done?

well Qt Quick can do that, it depend on devs to implement this feature.

anyone can tinker with the source code. and publish it. as long as you provide the source code that can be verified to not contain trojans then im sure the guys at bitcoin. org would put it along side the non skinable version. allowing people to choose.

even if the guys at bitcoin.org dont add it, you can put it on another site that is credible and been verified by a credible person/people.

So much money going into The Bitcoin Foundation, and so much going to some of the core dev, why isn't stuff like this getting done?

microsoft employs hundreds of people to make microsoft word/excel, they come up with a new version every couple of years.
bitcoin has gone through 8 mini version numbers and a few bug fix versions inbetween.

it is also important to know that bitcoin is dealing with wealth/value, and as such beta testing updates is more important then betatesting microsoft word.

so with all that said be proud they do something atleast. and if you dont like the amount they do, join them. submit some code and get it into the next version of bitcoin-qt.

and if you dont like bitcoin-qt team, you can always submit it to another app like armour, etc. or make one yourself using other peoples source code as most apps are open source.

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

Not an option, I can't code for shit! That's why I paid money to the foundation.

And I wouldn't compare coding Microsoft Word to adding the skinning ability to Bitcoin-qt.  Apples and porches Tongue

Mind you, it shouldn't be too hard to set it up so there are no security risks.  Like if all you needed was a folder full of images, that should distill be faily secure.  I dunno, just thinking out loud Smiley

I have an idea!

What If I started a bounty address?  Who ever creates the code that gets accepted into the next bitcoin-qt gets the bounty?

I'll be happy to pledge 50mBTC to this.

If I can get 2 more people to pledge some bitcoin I'll start a bounty!

I pledge the pieces of a broken iPod touch</sarcasm>

Nah. I'll pledge a Lana, some servos, an Arduino, and a whip. Then the new client will truly whip the llama's ass.
