1. Lock the thread. [Only open once you announce there is a space for new participants]

A campaign thread serve other purposes than blindly applying.
Already accepted members may decide to leave and say here, questions form participants may show up, important messages from the manager, suggestions from participants and so on.

Ofc Yahoo can lock the thread, but that's not what he and other managers usually do.

Yahoo can lock this thread and create a new self moderated one, use that instead for regular announcements/applications (when open) and also create a thread on service discussion regarding the signature campaign. Similar to YoBit, but anyway, these people are a very small minority (though they're annoying) anyway.

under the pay rates would be beneficial. I know we're talking about people that barely glance over the title but the first thing people are going to look at is the pay rates so seeing that message would unclog the forums with useless application spam. Having "FULL" in the title then in the thread somewhere as well would make a clear picture.

It really doesn't matter what is done, users post applications without reading period. Reading requires too much work.  I seen users tellin me I should lock the thread to stop them, but I feel like it's their responsibility to read at a minimum a Title.

Same thing can be said for users that apply and then immediately pm me for a spot. It won't get you a spot any faster and in fact may cause me to overlook your application. If I announce there is an open spot, apply and see what happens. Should be a simple process.

I think you are wrong in this statement because I am sure that the majority reads all that is needed before applying.

If not there will be multiple new applications every week, not only a couple and almost always from accounts that I don't recognize.

I agree with you here but still, as an OP you have the right to do with the thread whatever you want, especially in such circumstances.

Exactly that is why I am so sure that the majority of members read the thread before applying because like many others I watch and get notifications from almost all threads (bounties) you are running to find a spot in the best one and If majority of users really doesn't read the thread, then there will be many applications in all threads, every week.
