I screwed up overclocking and i need help~!!

OK i really fucked up now.  I didnt notice that i clicked the APPLY SETTINGS ON STARTUP button and now its crashing my cards before i can change anything.  is there any way i can change what they are doing from safe mode? it only lets me start up my computer then it goes to a stripped screen.  HELP!!!

What program did you use?  What OS?

If Windows, try to boot into safe mode (F8) and see if you can change the settings there.  If not, try to uninstall the overclocking tool.  You can also try to use AMD GPU Clock Tool to set things back to stock.

I cant open it in safe mode because safe mode doesnt show the drivers for the cards as installed and i dont think i can install them.  I did uninstall MSI overdrive and i told it to NOT save the settings but as far as i can tell it did NOT set the cards back to their defaults.  i think they are clocked at 875 MHZ core and 600 memory.  I even did a system restore to no avail...

Overclocking GPU's is not a "hard" overclock.  Nothing is saved to your card's BIOS, so it cannot be overclocked until it reaches Windows and an overclocking utility, such as MSI Afterburner, starts up.  If you've uninstalled the tool you used to overclock, it is decidedly impossible that your cards are still overclocked.

Is it something else thats making the screen go to the lines??   its like a bunch of vertical likes sometimes then other times its just a solid grey or white screen.  is that the GPUs crashing?

I had that on my 5850's, you did something wrong when installing the drivers most likely (since the lines dissapeared for me after uninstalling drivers, might have been nvidia drivers fucking up, idk)

Anyways, how to most likely fix ur shit:
1. Download Driver Sweeper ( http://www.phyxion.net/item/driver-sweeper.html )
2. Boot into safe mode, run Driver sweeper. Proceed to remove all your graphic drivers.
3. Uninstall any overclocking tool that you have used.
4. Reboot into windows and install new drivers, i installed the previous version of drivers for my cards, but i don't really think it should matter.

Try to avoid the 400-600mhz mem clock if it causes problems for you (doesn't for me, but i'm never @ 500mhz for any longer than 20s with nothing running in the background), go from 700->300.

I'm not saying it's the case but could have damaged your GPU, especially if voltage was too high.  Do you have another computer to install it to and test it on?  Try to uninstall the drivers from Add/Remove (Program Features) if possible.

I think the MSI.cfg file has all of the setting that you told it to load on startup.  You could open that file up and fix the memory or voltage setting.

Plus, if you have catalyst control running, you could open that up and tell it to go back to default overclock settings.
That has saved me a few times when I was tweaking.

another thing you could try in safe mode is this:

run msconfig
remove any startup program like MSI afterburner or Catlyst Control center.

Just boot into safe mode and uninstall the software
