I'm running Bitcoin Wallet app on my android. I sent a payment on the 1st. It's still showing as grayed out in my transaction history and has yet to hit the blockchain, not even as an unconfirmed transaction. Simply nothing. I've since made several other transactions, but that remains grayed out. Any ideas?

Can you send me a report through the app and check "append wallet dump"? In the email please refer to this post. I'll take a look at your wallet.

Is it safe to append wallet dump or does that expose my private keys? I don't want to risk losing what else is in my wallet to save the little that is currently in limbo.

The private keys are *not* included in the wallet dump. Your public Bitcoin addresses are though, and a list of your transactions (which are public in the blockchain anyways).

I just reset the blockchain and now the balance is way lower! But I'm not freaking out, because if I remember correctly a few weeks ago it showed my balance as being higher than I thought it was supposed to be but just shrugged it off as either a mistake that would eventually get worked out, or the mistake was on my end. Well, I think it finally got worked out.

The wishy wallet bug needs to go!

Did you change the fees at all? Has the app ever crashed for you?

We are investigating an issue where sometimes payments fail to show up as confirmed even though they are. Sounds like you had a different issue though.

Yeah, the app crashes all the time for me. I'd say about one in five sending transactions ends with a crash. The transaction goes through, but it crashes right after I send it. I'm running the Galaxy S III, btw.

Also, I never messed with fee amounts. And the one that didn't go through was on the 1st, so I think the fee was 1 milli because it was running the newest version.

Did you ever send a crash report? If so, using which email address?

No, never did. Perhaps I'll start doing that in the future should the problem continue.

Please do. It's hard to fix crashes without reports showing what's going on.

I'm having a similar problem.

I have been using the android app for several months, and it has always worked well. [RAZR Maxx Android 4.1.2]

Recently I had a grayed-out "This payment has not been transmitted yet" transaction which hung for a few weeks, though other transactions worked fine, both sending and receiving. I ignored it until a few days ago, when it was really starting to bug me, so I reset the blockchain to see if that helped.

It took a solid day to replay the blockchain, as the app crashed repeatedly throughout the replay. Upon completion, though, the problem seemed to be worse -- now I couldn't send at all.

This made me mad, so I re-installed the app, and re-imported my keys. Still, upon completion, I can receive but not send. My funds remain trapped on there.

I sent a few error reports via e-mail. Any ideas? Also, I have been unable to discover how to move my keys to another program -- how can I do that?

Generally its better send an issue report immediately when you identify an issue, *before* resetting the blockchain (and thus destroy any evidence that can help to debug the problem).

In your case, I can send you a version that sends your transactions stuck in "not transmitted yet" state.

Which email address did you use to send the reports? I can look up the problem.

You can restore your wallet backup with MultiBit, for example.

Thank you; I did receive a support response from you via email this morning, and it sounds like my usage pattern isn't compatible with the app. I was unaware of these usage guidelines, which you cited:

Quote
The more important part is your usage pattern. Bitcoin Wallet (and to some extent Bitcoin in general) works best with amounts of 0.01 BTC or larger and a little bit of balance between receiving and spending. If you never spend you will accumulate unspent transactions (more precisely: unspent outputs) that will clog up your RAM. If you spend, Bitcoin Wallet can garbage collect spent transactions after a while.

Note that you can spend to yourself. Just make sure to choose an amount that aggregates a number of transactions, without letting that number get too large. If it gets too large, you'll bump into another limit: the transaction size limit.

General rules:

Try have about one spend every 30-50 transactions.
Refrain from receiving dust transactions.
Refrain from receiving transactions that pay lots of recipients at once.

I imagine the last item is the problem, as I was receiving some mining payouts on the app.

I have finally figured out how to import the wallet into MultiBit by adding ".key" onto the end of the backup file, so all funds are now recovered.

Thanks again.

I'm having the same problem.  I tried to send the contents of my wallet to another wallet, and the transaction was greyed out and said, "This payment has not been transmitted yet."  I looked online and found this post.  I'm not at all tech savvy, but I tried to follow the instructions as best I could.  I selected Report Issue, but I don't have email enabled on my phone, so I tried to Bluetooth the report to my computer and send it from there.  That didn't work, as my phone says "Bluetooth share: Sent files, 0 successful, 6 unsuccessful."

Thinking that I could probably resend later, and that I probably had a copy of the report on my phone, and being in something of a hurry, I went ahead and tried the next step, Reset Blockchain.  That was last night.  As of midday today, my wallet shows a balance of BTC 0.00, and says, "No Bitcoins received so far."

Are these bitcoins lost forever?

First, make sure you're at least running version 3.45.

If you have already reset your blockchain, make sure your phone is connected to a stable WLAN and to a charger. Let it update until its up to date again. Does that cure your problem?

If you haven't reset your chain, before doing so can you send me a report through the app? It's Options > Settings > Report Issue. Please tick "Wallet dump". It will help me identify any issue.
