6 asicminer erupters in a closed drawer

Hi everyone,

for safety reason I have to put my miners in a kind of metallic drawer. The miners are attached to a anker hub, like done by many others.

The drawer has some little holes at the sides.

My question is: can the erupters stay in there with no harm? I start saying that I am seeing more HW errors. From 0.001 to 0.01. I can cope with this, unless the setup becomes dangerous.

In addition to that, I would like to know if the higher temperature is going to decrease the useful life of the miners by a great extent respectively of keeping them outside.

Almost every pic I have seen posted with multiple Block Erupters show them in open air with a fan.
So I a drawer with small holes and no fan, would probably be a no.
If you had a drawer with some decent size cut outs and some sort of fan to provide air flow, that might be workable.

If you had a drawer with so decent size cut outs and some sort of fan to provide air flow, that might be workable. 

Differently from those setups, my miners are more distant (a 10 port hub used for 6). Only two of them are near, but one has nothing on one side, and the other has another miner but after an empty port.

I see what you mean, but as I said I have to.

I would like to know the difference among the temperature outside the drawer and inside.
Does some of you know a formula to approximately calculate such difference?

Put a thermometer in the drawer and let the ASICs run until temp doesn't rise anymore. Check the reading and compare it to the ambient temp. It's not that hard to try if it works or not.

Surely somebody can paste a formula to calculate the heat dissipation of a thin metal box and the expected delta between inside and outside temps but thats more work than actually just trying if it heats up too much or not.

Put 2x60mm fans to vent the box in push/pull config, that size should be safe from getting unwanted hands in the box.
