Obviously im new to this, and live in NY.
I know Coinbase is common and probably the easiest but they have issues with freezing and delaying transactions which scares me.
I was considering using Localbitcoins.com, and if this is the most recommended method then so be it, but many sellers will not sell to NY residents due to recent laws and restrictions.
Im not buying much, maybe $1000 to start, storing it on a paper wallet and dont want to shell out a bunch of money in fees, nor do i want to jump through a bunch of hoops and meet people in dark alleys.
This seems like a lot to ask but im just not trying to lose much in getting into this.
Thank in advance to everyone.

I would definitely recommend localbitcoins, you can decide the payment method yourself and you don't have to physically meet the person.

Otherwise go for a real exchange, bitstamp works great for me but you will need to verify your identity before you can use it.

I don't know if you can buy at coins.ph I never have an issue with it, maybe take a look if you can buy 100mbtc from that exchange.
