hello

The coin is - a Physical, CASASCIUS, loaded 2013
I am sell in ebay auction
(Auction ends 08 Dec, 2017 21:13:28 GMT)

I am told the coin is pre fork so therefore worth more than just 1 bitcoin.

According to this link -

https://coinfirm.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/The-CoinFIRM-Casascius-Guide-v0.11-4.pdf

Only 7726 of this type of unopened physical coin are left in the world .

Consequently I have been told that this particular coin could have been sold for up to 3 times its face value due to massive collectors interest, this would equate to tens of thousands of pounds “crazy”
All I know is the current bid is at 5 thousand and this seems good to me.

I honestly know nothing about bitcoin.
I happened to attend a promotional event at the london O2 years ago and purchased this coin, its been in a draw ever since.
Only since I put it up for auction have I been starting to learn about this stuff.

I am new here I only found this forum a few days ago and I have been chatting on a different thread when one of your fine members giving me advice suggested people on this thread may have an idea of value ?

Would anybody here have an idea of its worth due to its collect-ability ?

I only ask out of interest now because I feel a bit of an idiot selling it on ebay , When it sells I would like to be able to work out how big an old idiot I really am, in cash terms :-)

thanks

Is it the brass coin or silver coin?  And it definately will not get 3 times its value here, that might have been back when btc to usd value was a lot lower.

Based on condition it should fetch 1.3 ish, if you want you can post a pic here and people will tell you.  How was it handled and what condition is it in?

Yeah, seems like 1.3 is going rate for the "average" Casascius on eBay (not talking super rares or MS70s).  However, after eBay/Paypal fees, you're only going to net 1.14-1.17 btc.  Usually better to sell here in the 1.2 btc range.  I know it sounds counter intuitive, but you sell for less here but NET more since no fees to pay.  Also, no worries about Paypal freezing your funds (happens more than you think).  If you do sell here, there are several good blokes who have been escrow-ing deals here for a long time, if that would make you feel more comfortable.  Good luck.

Due to not have a grasp of technology I would struggle to put a photo on this forum but I have been taught how to do that on ebay so plenty of photos with the listing

Never heard of escrow-ing so prob no good for me,

One other thing I would love to ask is how do I prove to the buyer this is real ?
I think iv learnt that the visible number on the outside can prove it , but how ? Is there a web site for this ?

Thanks

Take a photo of the coin with a piece of paper that has the date and your username on it to prove you have the coin. Upload it to imgur.com. Paste the link here.

Or show us the auction link.

As for escrow, if you won't use it, you may as well stick with ebay because nobody is going to deal with you here without it. You can read how it works here

Using escrow with some of the top members used here and with bitcoin is way more full proof than ebay and paypal.  Read a bunch on it and I'm sure people will be glad to help but without a solid years long reputation here and not using escrow nobody will buy it.  Good luck

Hey,
I was just thinking to offer a little help maybe...first there's no need to worry sharing the public address because it's impossible to have the balance stolen without the mini private key on the inside of the hologram, if you were to sell it here you need to prove that you've got the coin and share the public address in order to get a valuation but your coin is not graded, you won't get much in premium...selling the coin through escrow is not that easy because if you'll do it through a member who hasn't got rep, you'll end up by losing the coin forever and not getting a quid for it, rep member you'll have to pay some fees and send the coin to him for inspection and then he'll send it to your buyer, it does take a while, if you need the funds ASAP, not a good option. Regarding how to redeem the BCH and BTG from a Casascius coin at blockchain, I would really like to start a thread about that or if someone knows about one in the past link it here. If you'll sell it through eBay, absolutely no PayPal especially if you want to deliver the goods to your buyer as you've stated in your eBay listing, chargeback as soon as you've left the place...consider bank transfer but you'll have to wait up to 12 midnight to make sure that your buyer won't report fraud on his account causing the bank to temporarily lock your account pending fraud investigation after you've given him the coin and maybe loosing the funds because it's hard to prove that you've sold him goods especially BTC, I've lost a lot of money due to a scammer who acted like this. Only option in my opinion is to sell it for whatever you'll get on eBay and I'm sure that your coin will get a lot of interest and take cash only with the buyer collecting or meet in a public place for exchange but keep in mind the 13.2% eBay and PayPal fees or.... redeem it yourself and try to sell it in person, use localbitcoins for cash transactions, it will be a little difficult as a newbie but you'll sell it. Always watch out for scammers in the crypto world because man is full of them,

Cheers

Some folk offer cash now to stop auction and meet them in a dark part of town :-)
Iv had a few of them.

But can I ask one more thing – a guy says he needs to spend a few hours with me because it takes that long for the coin to get into his wallet, and only then is he happy to pay.
Is this 3 hour transfer time correct ?

No, if you are the seller he's paying you, so that makes no sense. I can see waiting for 1 confirmation on the network by the seller, but not the buyer? Why does it take him 3 hours WITH YOU to get btc to pay you? F that... Tongue

Bad idea, it sounds rather suspicious. Besides, it will also lead to the redemption of this coin. Why would anyone want to do that???

Oh, right, I never thought of it that way - is he going to peel it in front of you and redeem it or something? LOL

Happened to be online and saw your last post...
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES let ANYONE redeem the coin first without paying. If anyone does this, you'll lose the BTC loaded on the coin, even if they'll be doing it in your living room...you'll be able to prove that the BTC have been moved to a different address but you'll never know to whom the address belongs, can't prove that the address belongs to a specific person.  Just for your knowledge, a transaction can take from as little as let's say 10 mins up to 24hrs and it solely depends on how busy the BTC network is. I don't think that you should accept cash and end the auction on eBay, you may get more for the coin there, just wait for the auction to finish and like I said earlier, send a message to your buyer to come and collect, no PayPal and as a tip you can cancel the eBay transaction if your buyer agrees and split the fees in half, you'll get 5% more net value and your buyer will pay 5% less than he won it but there will be no fees to pay on your side so you'll get more net eventually, will be more convenient for both, lots of people are doing this. And about the meeting, don't meet in shady places because we're speaking about thousands of pounds which is a lot of money, and don't go to deliver, the buyer should either come to your place or something public from your neighbourhood, let him inspect the coin, verify it if he wants and straight after that get the cash and everyone will be happy...
Good luck mate, ask anything, will help if I may, don't want anyone else to get scammed as it happened to me and so many others...
