Hello there,

I'm new to investing in altcoins, as previously I've only invested in BTC.

I'm looking to invest around $500 each in three high potential altcoins, I'm happy with risk, obviously big risk = big payoff, but I'd also like there to be some logic as to why these particularly coins can succeed or outperform the rest.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, currently I'm looking at NEO, Waves and Ripple, but Dash is also looking promising. Is there an exchange where I can easily convert some BTC into these?

If you are looking into Dash try DeepOnion it is undervalued at the moment and has great potential. Likewise the other two coins of Waves and NEO are solid coins however I dislike Ripple a lot and would avoid that coin. It simply has too much centralization for me to prefer it as a coin in my portfolio. Lastly I would take a look into coins like XRB, GBYTE, and MSP (RaiBlocks, Byteball, and Mothership respectively). All of them also seem undervalued to me and are due for a good run up.

Do you seriously consider Ripple too centralized but promote DeepOnion, a coin that's completely premined with massive amounts being controlled by the devs? That's hilarious.

Well in my opinion 500$ is very small budget to start investing in the crypto world. But if you have just this amount and you would like to invest only in altcoins I think Ethereum, Dash and Litecoin are the most promising altcoins actually.

If I see a particularly promising coin, I don't mind investing more, but since I'll probably be investing in high risk coins I'd like to keep it low. I like the sound of Ethereum, but it hasn't seen gains like Dash and LTC, maybe its turn is coming soon.

Don't play around. Go for the better Altcoins.

Monero
BTC Gold
Eth
Eth Classic
Litecoin

Later on, when you don't have to ask such questions you can take some of your earnings and speculate.

If you are so happy with high risk, then invest all in bitcoin or invest all in coins with very low market caps. Try to find unique coins not scam ones.

It could be a nice idea to check byteball, USD price is "stable" versus some others coins, so it hasn't pumped yet. It has a great potential too. One day, it could skyrocket a bit like Monero or some others.

ETH dropped a little bit today so it can be a good time to enter on it Smiley

With these two altcoins, you're not doing such a risky investment, I would say. Keep your last part not for one altcoin, but for some projects that you'll find interesting  Wink

You will have some headaches once everyone will answer with their opinions, haha. Everyone has his own feeling about every coins.

DeepOnion looks very promising to me, it has airdrops and a great community. You need an account with Cryptopia.co.nz  cause that is the main
(if not the only) exchange (Nova is shutting down).

I would take a look also at ACT, chinese project that began marketing a lot during these few past days (for this you need an account on Okex.com)

Dash = Scam project and devs.
Waves = Dead coin only being pumped because of hype.
Ripple = Easily manipuled by banks/governments, it can easily break down it's price, max price = $0,50 - $0,75

Invest in real coins, look for ethereum, monero (it did x2 since the last 10 days) litecoin... Cardano..

Iota is a big coin too, it will be worth more than $7 during the next year, so if you want to make money, just invest in one of those before it is too late.

Look no further than Monero. I also value Vertcoin and groestlcoin quite highly they have a lot of room for growth and are still relatively cheap compared to the big ten!

But it doesn't though! It's going against the most basic crypto fundamentals. It's a noob-trap. Just look around how many people have it as signature.

@Parodium: It's very far from me to recommend coins but in case you're planning on holding for more than a few months, I'd suggest reading about PIVX. Be warned, that I'm a holder and therefore biased - which is why I just recommend reading about it and not just blindly investing. The reason PIVX comes to mind is because its USD chart is just beautiful (green line) and because you can stake your coins which means you're expected to earn much more than with just holding. I'm fully expecting it to go beyond $15 next year - but that's just my guess.

Not your keys, not your coins!

Can you buy bitcoins and keep that amount in a reliable exchange till the end of the year . What will happen if you keep it there. By the end of the year, Bitcoins might hit 15000$. There are four upcoming forks coming which if you keep that amount in your wallet. You can get free coins and later resell it to buy your altcoins you want to invest in.

#Bitcoin: Upcoming Hard Forks:

- Dec 15th: Super Bitcoin (498888 block)
- Dec 23-24: Bitcoin Platinum (500000 block)
- Dec 31st: Bitcoin Uranium (block unknown)
- Jan 2nd: Bitcoin Cash Plus (501407 block)
- Date & Time Unknown: Bitcoin Silver (block unknown)

WISH I CAN GET A LOAN TO INVEST IN UPCOMING HARD FORKS AND PAY WITH 50% INTEREST BY JANUARY 15

I invested in Stratum, Ripple and Lumens, and have seen decent returns.

What are you all investing in, and what coins do you avoid like the plague?

I am not sure about that $500 is a suitable capital to divide three pieces or not. I think it is better to choice two coins. And my opinions would be two of these three: btc, eth or xrp
