As an investor and strictly an investor; my advice would be to dump. The coins are cool and will always command a premium but as you've seen; the premium is going down with the rise of bitcoin. I'd buy the coins all day if the cost is reasonable but the cost when translated to FIAT IS absolutely not worth it at present levels. If you're looking to make money and are not a collector; go with Bitcoin itself. If you have money to spare and want to buy a physical coin; then by all means buy the CAS. The core issue is liquidity; it's going to take a lot longer to find a qualified, safe buyer of your coin than it is to just sell BTC on an exchange. Just my .02 and that said, I really want to get a Titan because it just looks cool.
If you're dumping, we're buying! Just let me know..

If you're dumping, we're buying! Just let me know.. I'm just talking about the premiums coming down on the initial investment. Personally, I think the coins are awesome but if you need to move it quick; there could be issues. I only have one coin; a .5 brass I picked up on ebay in July. That said, I'm looking for a Titan and if I can get a good deal on a few more CAS, I would buy as well. I got a few Titan knock offs from China which surprisingly look very good and was thinking of making money clips for sale on here. Any interest?

I think with premiums going down, it's better to just redeem it if you have Cas. brass coins.

its actually a mixed bag, as the btc premium goes down, but the fiat equivalent goes up, I am holding one large btc cas coin, and I will never get the btc back I paid for it, but its "worth" in the fiat world so much more.
I think this is the key, if you are into your btc, sell it and keep the virtual currency, if your into cash, sell it when its right for you.

With BTC going up, i'm getting more emails from Anduck's tracker that BTCC coins are getting redeemed. Would anyone know if there is such a tracker (email notification) for Cas. coins?

This is the closest thing I've seen: https://casascius.uberbills.com/?page=charts&year=allI'm not sure how up-to-date it's kept.

I respectfully disagree. The premium is just about right on those. Reading through active threads, one user says he will never pay more than $750 premium per coin and another user is trying to sell a Silver for over what the market will bear and is asking why the cost in BTC has depreciated from just a few months ago. (captnlolers) I think the answer lies somewhere in between. There are definitely tangible benefits to owning a physical coin but what will the market pay for it and if you decide to sell; what will your buyer be willing to pay? Personally don't think you can go wrong with a brass.

I have yet to receive even a matching offer on the same coin graded at an MS 68.

Apart from their beautiful artistic, historic, and collectible value, Casascius coins and all collectibles in this space act as a hedge against Bitcoin itself. I love Bitcoin, but if Bitcoin were to fail one day; these collectibles would all retain some (I believe a lot) value.
Hold the Casascius, it is beautiful art and it is history. :-)

Premiums are down. Forks are up. It is almost as profitable to peel and redeem all the forked coins, for now anyway. Especially when you consider counterparty risk.

I have no plans to do anything other than sit on mine. If I did need to realise their value I don't think I'd have the stomach for the open market though. They're now worth too much. I'd offer them to the usual suspects on here, but even then I'm not sure it's possible to insure something for these amounts in the post, but that's as far I'd go.

I still think because the cas market is still niche with the premiums so low it's definately HOLD. When bitcoin hits mainstream and the collectables market catches up these will only go up in value but you guys can keep peeling that's fine with me

It must be quite a significant number of fresh deaths by this point in time.

Don't know but each peel is another reason to hold, would be interested in seeing how many of the 25s survived since those don't have a real high percentage resale.
