I opened up the Ledger Manager (chrome app) and installed LiteCoin app, it appears on my Nano now.
But i don't have an app in chrome://apps, like there's no Wallet app so i don't know how to use it.

This support website :  https://ledger.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005172945-How-to-install-and-use-Litecoin-LTC-
Seems to suggest i should open the "Ledger Wallet Bitcoin" chrome app... well i don't see how i can transfer funds to my LiteCoin wallet that way.

Plus if i do that, i'm in the Bitcoin wallet on the Nano, and if i try to go anywhere else... i end up just getting prompted for the Nano PIN again.

This Nano seems to really isolate stuff, like if i go from Ledger Manager (chrome app), and then try to open say "Ledger Wallet Bitcoin" (chrome app), the chrome app prompts me to connect my device again.
I find i have to constantly unplug and re-connect the USB anytime i try and come out of something or open the  "Ledger Wallet Ethereum" (chrome app).
The whole thing is turning out to be an exercise in unplugging / replugging/ reinserting Nano pin.. this is not a well managed device from my POV.
Is this how it's supposed to be?

I've never had those kinds of issues you're describing. The Bitcoin Wallet chrome app contains most of the altcoin wallets. To use Litecoin and most of the other altcoins (not Ethereum), you open the Bitcoin chrome app and the correct altcoin app on your ledger. So your steps would be to open the ledger Bitcoin chrome app, connect your nano s, unlock it, and open the litecoin app on your nano s. The window should then load on your computer and display the litecoin wallet.

So your steps would be to open the ledger Bitcoin chrome app, connect your nano s, unlock it, and open the litecoin app on your nano s. The window should then load on your computer and display the litecoin wallet.

Well i try those steps:

I open the "Ledger Bitcoin Wallet" from chrome apps.
I connect the Nano, my computer detects it with a beep.
The Ledger Bitcoin window prompts me to connect the Nano and enter PIN.
I enter the PIN on the Nano, hear another beep.
The Nano unlocks, i scroll to the LiteCoin app, and open it on the Nano, but nothing happens on the chrome app.
I guess it's not recognizing my device or something it just sits there on the screen "to begin, connect and unlock your Ledger Wallet"..

Tried closing out the chrome app, unplug the Nano, try same steps on a different USB port and it's the same.
Tried restarting computer, same.

By the way, once you've unlocked the Nano, is there some way to 'log out' of it?
Like, put you back to the PIN prompt or is it always necessary to unplug the device?

I can’t offer any help, as my Ledger Nano S arrives in Friday.  I’m really looking forward to using it.  Have you tried ERC20 integration through MEW?  Do you find it easy to use?  Seems like it would be from the videos.  I wonder if MEW integration would also allow LTC management???

Relax, it's a great wallet. It's unfortunate that you're having issues but I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

Here are some steps to try from a reddit thread with someone who had a similar issue:
  • Stop Parity and Geth if they are running on your computer. Parity, at least, interacts with the USB layer and can interfere with the wallet app. The wallet app sits there telling you to please connect and unlock your Nano, not seeing it.
  • Check with another cable
  • Try with a different USB port or through a USB hub
  • Try to delete the Bitcoin app from the Manager, install it again and see if it's better (If you can get the ledger manager chrome app working)

If all those fail, try posting on https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet

Hey, I tried it with myself buddy and it works.
After installing the Ledger manager and Bitcoin chrome app, Open Bitcoin chrome app > connect your ledger to your device > navigate to Litecoin app on your ledger > go to Settings > Browser support > Choose "No". Try to disconnect the device and connect it again, now for sure you can open the Litecoin app using the Bitcoin chrome app. Since Litecoin works on the Bitcoin wallet as they are both tracked on the same blockchain.

Thanks for the update.  My Nano S arrives tomorrow so I am glad to see there is a solution.  I will come back here to follow your steps and comment with any issues...

No joy here.

Now i can't even get into the bitcoin wallet at all.
Tried removing and re-adding the Chrome extension.
It just remains on the screen "To Begin, connect and unlock your Ledger Wallet".

Opened a support case, they suggested trying a different cable.
So i tried that and it's the same.

Then i tried it on a Ubuntu machine and it's same.

Probably will go out and buy a Trezor, i just don't know how i can retrieve my funds from this Nano?

I assume Ledger support already got you to check "browser support"? (On you Ledger... plug it in to power it up, enter PIN, select the Litecoin app... select "settings"... select "browser support"... select "No".)

Also, is your ledger being registered by Windows? Do you get the "USB connected" sounds when you enter your PIN and unlock the Ledger?

Yes to both.

I tried today on another computer - laptop with windows7 and it worked.
So i'm thinking maybe it has something to with my Chrome \ Google account?
I'm logged into my google account on chrome on each of the other computers.

I wasn't able to transfer LTC from Coinbase to Nano though.
It complained about the Nano LTC address.
"Please enter a valid email or Litecoin address"
I'm 100% about the address since it was a copy and paste, no spaces at the end.
So maybe it's that Legacy vs Segwit address option on the nano wallet?

I found it a bit buggy at first but following this process it works every time.
With the Nano unplugged;

1) Close all chrome windows
2) Open a new chrome window
3) Select apps
4) Select Ledger Wallet Bitcoin
5) Connect Nano
6) Unlock Nano
7) Scroll to LTC
Cool Double click
9) Right scroll to settings
10) Double click on Browser support
11) Double click on NO

The Bitcoin wallet will open in LTC
Make sure you are closing all windows when starting

What letter does the LTC address start with? Chances are that it IS a Legacy vs. SegWit issue... although SegWit has been around on LTC a lot longer than it was on BTC... I would have though the support would have been better.

I was finally able to transfer my LTC out of Coinbase.

Upon opening the Bitcoin wallet (chrome app) and then opened the LiteCoin icon on the Nano, i had to select use a LEGACY address on the BItcon Wallet window..

That's the only way Coinbase would recognize the LiteCoin address.

They suck

Its not necessary to withdraw them to a legacy address.
To withdraw litecoin from coinbase to a segwit address you have 2 options.
1) You can transfer your funds from coinbase to GDAX (which is free of charge) and cash them out there, since they allow segwit withdrawals.
2) You can use a P2SH converter (e.g. https://litecoin-project.github.io/p2sh-convert/) to convert it to a coinbase-accepted-format.

I would still be a bit careful when using the second method. To be on the safe side, test it first with small amounts.

Just wanted to report back, I have been using my Nano S for over a month.  I love it.  Mew integration for ERC20 is seamless.  I store it in a fireproof lockbox when not in use.

Also, is your ledger being registered by Windows? Do you get the "USB connected" sounds when you enter your PIN and unlock the Ledger?

I got my Nano s two days ago direct from Ledger/France.  This process is driving me nuts.

Chrome browser is running on Linux Mint 18.1, desktop PC
I upgraded to Firmware v1.4.1
I assigned the PIN
I downloaded LTC from the Ledger Manager extension
I scrolled to LTC on the Ledger
I double-clicked on LTC
It says "Use Wallet to View Accounts" with a right down arrow
I clicked on the down arrow, it now says "about" with a right down arrow
I clicked on the down arrow and it says "quit app" (no settings nor browser support option)

I deleted LTC from the Ledger Manager and started the above process again with no luck.  Should I try this in Win10?  I'd rather not screw around with Linux code unless it's a simple procedure.

Edited to Add:  Problem solved.  I was missing the LTC ledger app in my files.  I noticed on here and at Reddit the term "Litecoin Ledger Wallet" and mistook that for the Ledger Manager.  What can I say, I'm a noob with the Ledger.  Was able to transfer a small test amount from Coin Base to the Ledger wallet with no problem.
