Will the amount of bitcoins available forever remain 21 million BTCs? Many people are joining the Bitcoin bandwagon as days go by. Will there be a time when the 21 million BTCs won't be enough ? Any suggestions ?

Bitcoins are fixed and can not be added. If demand grows, nothing will happen no matter what happens beyond the high bitcoin value. People can still own small quantities. |

you are thinking about it wrong. there are 21 million whole bitcoins but also there is 8 decimals after the 1 whole bitcoin. which means there are 2,100,000,000,000,000 satoshi available and if you think about it, that amount is more than enough for the number of people who might be interested in bitcoin and want to use it. it will never be every single person on earth so it is enough. and with the value of bitcoin rising with more adoption, 1 satoshi will have a meaningful value. currently at $0.00014 |

Forked coins is not bitcoin and will never be. Bitcoin's supply is fixed to 21M and no one can add even a single piece of it to the blockchain. Thatis the big advantage of bitcoin to the fiat currency and even trading stocks because once the demand goes high it's price will go up with it. |

No, high demand won't increase the supply of Bitcoin because like Gold, Bitcoin has a limited supply. High demand will only increase the monetary value of bitcoin and since bitcoin is subject to deflation as it is being widely used, it encourages hoarding and holding, much like what the most of bitcoin holders are doing.

You are thinking about it wrong. there are 21 million whole bitcoins but also there is 8 decimals after the 1 whole bitcoin. which means there are 2,100,000,000,000,000 satoshi available and if you think about it, that amount is more than enough for the number of people who might be interested in bitcoin and want to use it. it will never be every single person on earth so it is enough. and with the value of bitcoin rising with more adoption, 1 satoshi will have a meaningful value. currently at $0.00014 The time is coming when people would be using the term satoshi for Bitcoin when its price has already reached by the millions. The number of possible Bitcoin is already fixed at 21 Million and with the way it is set-up it is 100% impossible to add more to that figure which can be the big reason why due to the increasing demand for the coin its price is really skyrocketing to the moon (or is it the stars?). Maybe OP is concerned that a time is coming when there can be a big shortage of Bitcoin, that exchanges would be drying up of Bitcoin to sell to possible buyers. Well, that scenario may not be happening at all due to the open dynamics of the market. There would always be sellers and buyers. |

Yes, Bitcoin supply will forever be 21 millions and It's enough.The actual supply after all the coins are minted will be a lot less, The total supply will be like ~17 millions. |

I think even if we have a high demand for bitcoin it wouldn't cause more supply of bitcoin, It would only rise the price up after all 1 bitcoin could be divided into Sat's or satoshi. |

No. Increasing the supply would be bad for everyone that is involved. A single Bitcoin can be divided into 100 million units, so there should be enough for everyone as the value grows. Should Satoshis start to be worth too much, the network will simply have to introduce more decimal places. There's no need to increase the supply. There's also no reason to believe that this will happen in our lifetimes, so it's a complete non-issue.

No it should not. Bitcoin is Bitcoin because of the limited supply and I guess that is more than enough for all of us. I cannot even earn or buy 1 BTC, Imagine that, 21,000,000 BTC and yet you are not able to acquire 1 BTC. Even if the demand goes higher, BTC will remain with the limited number of supply and I guess increasing it will damage the reputation of Bitcoin, Trust from the community will lessen and worst, it's price might crash real hard that no one will use it anymore.

Bitcoin can not be more than 21.000.000 around the world, that is why the price of bitcoin is always increasing time by time, it has made bitcoin is best choice as instrument of investment there are no inflation in bitcoin, bitcoin is always enough for everyone because bitcoin can be broken into the smallest unit, i think if you think bitcoin is not enough for you still there are many choice in alternative coins that has large of supply but i don't think the values of coins will increase fast and many people addopt the coins. |

Adding more coins will devaluate their existing coins and people will lose trust in this technology. The value is linked to scarcity and if you can add bitcoins any time you want <like governments printing money> then people will not use it as a safe haven or a store of value. |

I think that they couldn't add more than that because it was already been set from the start.

By the time the last bitcoin is produced, so many forks will appear, that most people will stop understand what bitcoin is. 21 million BTCs X N will be enoughthere has been hundreds of bitcoin forks already. check out the altcoin lists and check from where they got their source code and you will realize that the forks are not a new thing. also there has been thousands of altcoins created from other altcoins, a handful from scratch. ... and still bitcoin is bitcoin and you can use it as a payment but nobody even cares about altcoins apart from pump and dumping them. and that won't change with these new forks of bitcoin either. in other words you are a fool if you think supply is increasing just because some other fool forked an altcoin out of bitcoin!  |

Of course it will not because the high demand in Bitcoin will soon result into price to skyrocket. In fact the supply will become scarce due to investors keep on holding their coins for long term investment. Whales are hoarding and most of the bitcoin community from early to late adoptors makes Bitcoin more valuable than today. I know that time will come 1 Satoshi can be equivalent of todays price of 1 BTC or even more like we can buy house and lot, cars or almost anything and that is because of the increasing trust by public and private companies, increasing Bitcoin community and greed investors.  For me hard forks are just system upgrades and some kind of free coins or giveaway it will of course not change Bitcoin's supply. |

21 million bitcoins limit would remain unchanged forever.But people would start using the word satoshi in future which represents 0.00000001 of 1 BTC.Bitcoins value is very high today reaching $14,160 and so,10,000 satoshis equals to $1.42 which would be a much affordable amount for even normal people to buy.
But there would be a great demand for whole bitcoins in future when all 21 million bitcoins supply gets completed.Bitcoin would be saved as a treasure at that time.
