-------

I have made arrangements to have entry fees escrowed if requested by any of the participants or if they exceed a certain level.
These raffles are supposed to be fun and fair.  No scams allowed here.

The method of selecting a winning raffle number has been chosen.
I am using a hybrid, simplified version of candoos selection process.

Starting at 10p EST on Monday, the hashes from discovered blocks will pick the winning raffle number.
I will record the hashes from 6 consecutive discovered blocks.

Block 1 - 932a804a05ad7c1baa277fa1924d20c1b2c986d6883a3112d6
Block 2 - 7253a927900b56e0c814b80385b5a677178b950d2b6e786fc7
Block 3 - 85fab3f65504107264dec5fb3f5a3447d44e9196a869d1aea9
Block 4 - 7bba4e5649dd6ba1df720ed0acb199702840fac9d4084cd76e

Using only the numerals in those blocks, from left to right.
We will keep moving to the right until a have a wining numeral. (excluding the 14 zeros(for now))
I will let the first block pick the first winning numeral of our raffle number.
The second block pick the second numeral
The third block pick the third winning numeral
the fourth block pick the fourth winning numeral.
The fifth and sixth block will only be used if NO winning numbers appear in any of the block hashes. (unlikely to be needed)

So, our raffle numbers are 4 digits
1001
1002
1003
1004
1005
1006

In this example, the first three digits are all the same in our raffle numbers, so the fourth block will pick our winner.
Block 4 - 7bba4e5649dd6ba1df720ed0acb199702840fac9d4084cd76e
I simply move left to right until the number in the block hash matches a number in our raffle drawing.
1004 Would Win

I want to enter, before I do. Can you  take a picture of the Block Erupter, with your username, date and 2 upside down question marks. Just for proof that you have an Erupter in your possesion

No problem.
I tried to draw to upside down question marks without turning the paper upside down - Fail.

Thanks for the humbling challenge.

Sorry have one more question.  Is there a number of contestants your shooting for? I guess Im asking if only 10 people enter is the Erupter still given out or do we need X amount of people for the Raffle to be valid

What is the ticket limit sir?

No Ticket Limit. The Prize pool keeps increasing with entries.
If you notice on the sheet, there are additional draw numbers.

1-125 Entries -   Drawing 1 winner - 1 Block Erupter
126 - 249 Entries - Drawing 2 winners - 1st = Block Erupter, 2nd = 50% of the 126-249 Entry fees
250 - 375 Entries - Drawing 3 winners - 1st = Block Erupter, 2nd = Block Erupter, 3rd = 50% of the 250-375 Entry Fees

Following that pattern indefinitely.

As I did with my last Raffle, I'm not setting a minimum.
I will pull a winning number on Monday, no matter if I have 10 or 10,000.  That's the agreement I have with those of you who are entering.  I will stick to it.
While I hope to get enough participation to make it worth the effort - Getting enough participation is my problem, not the entrants.  (Sorry if entrants isn't a word)

Another question not asked:
Countries that I will ship to.

I don't do a whole lot of international shipping.
If you know I am going to have trouble getting things from the US to you via USPS, please don't enter.
If there are current hostilities, embargos or alien invasions, please don't enter the drawing.

I'll make every effort to get prizes shipped to the winner, no matter where you are.
But, I'm limited to traditional shipping.

Just use some common sense.

I'm interested, however can you do the raffle in a provably fair way? Cryptography will prove that you selected a fair player.

For the actual implementation, it's not too difficult. Generate a random string. A trusted third party (like me) would generate a random string too.

You hash your string with SHA256 and post it here. I hash it with SHA256 and post it here too.

When the raffle ends, we concat (combine) our two secrets (the strings, not the hashed version), and hash that. Then, for each ticket number we hash that plus the hash of the two secrets. We then get the ticket which is a SHA256 hash.

The ticket with the lowest value wins.

I was planning on using a random number generator.  Feeding the high and low limit raffle numbers and using the total number of entries as the seed number.
Then recording video of the drawing taking place.

Using cryptography, as you suggested, would be fitting for this kind of drawing.  However, I'm not following your method.
I don't have a firm enough grasp on the math behind using hash to get a random outcome.

If you have a moment, I'd be interested in hearing more.

you should use a escrow to pick the lucky number. I guess john K could do it

Message me your idea.

I think I may hijack candoos idea - seems pretty simple.
