Hello, I use to exchange ETH using Coinbase and always worked like a charm.

Today, I tried to transfer some BTC for the first time:
  • I created a wallet with Electrum (SegWit)
  • I have bought some BTC on Coinbase
  • I tried to send the BTC from Coinbase to my brand new wallet

The problem is that Coinbase refuses the address (It just says "please enter a valid BTC address")

Any help? Did I miss something?

Thanks

Most probably because Coinbase does/did not support SegWitt addresses.  By this time you may have solved your problem already. Anyway, if not, you should create another wallet and select 'standard' instead of 'segwitt'.

  • I created a wallet with Electrum (SegWit)

when you were choosing your wallet type in Electrum in this step, there was a warning in the same window telling you why the issue you are facing now is happening.

it is because Bech32 address format is not yet widely supported. so when you try to withdraw to that type of address (starting with bc1) that service (coinbase in this case) does not recognize it.
