🥑 What is Veggie

Veggie is a digital currency similar to Bitcoin, designed to fund animal charities and cruelty-free initiatives, without its users donating their money. Users mine Veggie for themselves, and as they do, a 25% coin bonus is generated in a separate fund. Each month, the Veggie community votes on which charities and initiatives to fund with this coin bonus. Users don't need to donate their money to make a real difference to the welfare of animals. Simply by running the software, you are generating wealth for yourself and helping charities make an amazing impact in the world.

🌽 Algorithm

Veggie uses the rare HMQ1725 algorithm, an ASIC resistant algorithm that is CPU based. This algorithm is designed to be mine-able by normal machines, yet difficult to strip mine with specialized hardware.

🌶️ Fund Wallet

The Veggie blockchain will include a special fund wallet, which receives 20% of coins mined by the community. This 25% bonus is used to enable Veggie to support animal welfare charities and initiatives. The funds will be distributed based on the choice of the community. Veggie strives to donate the Veggie fund to a number of different charities and initiatives at the end of each month. Veggie farmers (miners) generate VEGI for themselves, which can be traded on major cryptocurrency exchanges, or donated to the Veggie fund.

The coin isn't for a charity, it is to fund animal welfare initiatives, start ups and to donate to other charities. Veggie is for anyone who wants to help animals, and we think that a charity coin that was to help all initiatives may be too broad and a completely different concept

Our Block Explorer Couldn't Even Keep Up! So many people were mining with GPUs when the difficulty was low!! How exciting

To anyone experiencing a warning on the wallet - this is a BIP thing inbuilt into the bitcoin-qt.

We have forked bitcoin-qt to make our coin, and this message prevailed and marks a change in the consensus rules at a certain block height for the bitcoin blockchain.

This will not affect Vegi mining in anyway and is simply a legacy marker from the old bitcoin code which we forked, that has remained. It won't cause any issues, though it does look worrisome.

In fact you can just ignore this warning entirely.
