So the first Volta actual GPU has shown its face, looks like they are teasing with a TITAN V model https://hothardware.com/news/nvidia-volta-titan-v-12gb-hbm2-110-tflopsArticle states: about same power as Pascal my thoughts: ya but WAY better compute performance? 25% more CUDA cores than a 1080ti, but they want 3k USD right now :O Would you buy one? Does this mean Volta by Xmas? RIP AMD, again. aww and VEGA was just coming into its own

Wow, I can't wait to see the benchmarks on this card. Not paying 3k to speculate, it needs approx 4x the hash to match the 1080ti? No thanks...

single precision is 14 Tflops vs 12 Tflops for pascal at same TDP.
So there's some efficiency gains, but not as significant as the maxwell > pascal jump.
If Volta x70/x80 release in March, it'll probably be 1 - 2 months before it becomes available in sufficient quantity and at MSRP. I guess pascal is still good for now.

The performance gains will not be gigantic. Efficiency will increase as the new chips are produced in 12nm which is a good thing. I wouldn’t go out and buy plenty of new Maxwell cards now - if you get a good deal go it is still worthwhile but I am looking to hopefully ROI all the gear until March and slowly replace the existing cards

Personally as long as i have extra funds I will keep expanding, if volta shows up ill switch but not before

Personally as long as i have extra funds I will keep expanding, if volta shows up ill switch but not before It depends a bit on the capacities on site. Personally i can still add a couple of cards but I can’t build two new rigs due to the power constraints. If you have some capacity and a good deal it makes sense to expand a bit more. Personally I am looking forward to the enchances efficiency and additional hash rate that comes with Volta. But also if for example a 1070 rig is paid off it makes kind of sense to further milk it. I need to find a good solution for this.

What a crap, I'll rather buy more RX570 by 230 USD than this or wait till next gen AMD will appear... Oh mama, cant wait for this to come, When consumer level Volta comes out AMD is a gonna Nothing will happen, AMD will always beat NV price/ROI rate however... why bother with one 800 usd GPU if u can get 5 AMD gpus instead of it...? Same crap as Vega are now, everyone expected impossible things it can do but still, till next gen RX4/5 will be at is best.

Oh mama, cant wait for this to come, When consumer level Volta comes out AMD is a gonna Which would be a bad thing for us as competition always enhances innovation and helps to have a healthy pricing. Intel was able to price their CPUs to their liking and wasn’t putting that much effort into the next CPU generations due to the lack of competition. This changed and everyone is profiting from it. But it is true that I wonder what AMD can come up with - Vega against Volta will be an easy win for Nvidia.

I'll stop 1 - 2 months before volta's release though. My farm of 120 + gpu, 90% of the time spent on 7 Vega cards (selling them, someone please take it off me lol), 9% spent on 24 polaris cards. My remaining 1080tis had just 1 small issue in 1 rig for 6 months. Reinstalled driver remotely and it works again. Flawless, no bs, just works. I'll gladly take a slight hit to ROI for the immense improvement in stability.

If I could get the 6gb for that price I would be swooping them all up for sure. 13gpu motherboards are out of stock here too so it's a no go for me at the moment as the costs rise too much on a 6 card rig.

Yeah I get that wie the rig costs. I have also one board for 11 GPUs not fully utilised as I want to keep some room for good GPU deals. Thinking already about replacing one of the 6 GPU board with an 11 GPU board. But well thats for the future I guess
