A major mining marketplace has been hacked today, resulting in the loss of over 60 million US dollars.

NiceHash, based in Slovenia, have announced that roughly 4700 Bitcoin have been stolen and that user activity has been suspended pending an investigation. It has also spoken out, suggesting that all users change their passwords.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

This is sad news. News like this about exchanges getting hacked, exchanges going offline when the demand increases etc. all harm bitcoin's image. An investment method or an asset has to be reliable first of all, if I deposit my money somewhere I should be able to access it whenever I want as an investor. If you can't provide that, you can't go mainstream because no one will trust you.

Yes, the Hack attack on NiceHash was a very bad thing as it will push very negative impression on MIners and Investors. Got the news last day on BMI https://www.bitcoinmarketinsider.com/bitcoin-mining-marketplace-nicehash-hacked/

Holy crap, you'd think blockchain based business would have better security. I think if you're a security expert you'd make a killing providing security for blockchain based business. There are way to many hacks of this kind. Can we get some entrepreneurs to step up to the plate?

That's why my payment still on hold, a very sad news to the bitcoin community. This needs to be fixed as soon as possible. Why is this happening I thought blockchain is a very tough to hack but what is happening right now. I can think that their just manipulating the market.

Nicehash is really little attention is paid to their programmers. Alarm bells were already when users are constantly faced with bugs in new software versions. Can suggest that the same situation was with the security system. I hope they will solve their problems and will get a second chance to continue their activities.

oh just saw that , yesterday all the news were about steam but there is another bad news too
it seems that everytime we see bitcoin moving a lot exchanges or other services get hacked  Roll Eyes

Nicehash should have a plan for paying their users from their profits , it's a large amount of money but such sites should be responsible for their security

Are they likely to be able to recover from this, or is this the end for them?
