Hi,
I feel bitcoin is too expensive to invest in atm, i was close to buying 5BTC back in September but thought it was expensive then (what a mistake)
Why you didn't push your plan of buying on September? Price now is totally different from that month and it was totally high.

I know it could still rise a lot more but with what i have available to invest, isn't gonna be life changing for me.
It will be life changing, where do you live? If you aren't so sure if by investing today with the rise will not make your life change just invest as it is.

So I'm looking to invest and hodl altcoins and a lot of people seem to have faith in ETH even though the network had had problems recently.

Anyone think it still has good potential to rise a lot?
Talking about good potential rise bitcoin is the best choice for it.

Both crypto-currencies have the potential for growth, so I don't recommend selling all bitcoins to buy an ETC, but diversifying your investments is a good idea.

According to my research the price of both will increase with the passage of time but it is expected that the price of bitcoin will be at a faster speed than ethereum so you will get benefit in your investment in both of them. Bitcoin will be at a more benefit than ethereum. But anyway it depends on your will. You will not lose in both of them

For now bitcoin growth is better than ethereum, so for bitcoin prices it has a good profit margin but with a higher risk level.
and for ethereum with a fairly stable price will make this coin can be a long-term investment that will provide benefits in the future.

I think bitcoin is still worth investing rather than ethereum even if the value of bitcoin is so high right now because it is expected that bitcoin price will still go even much higher than its value today though ethereum is expected to go higher in the coming years still it cannot surpass the value appreciation bitcoin has ever reach and I think it is more risky to take ethereum.

For my crypto, I maintain an allocation of 45% BTC, 35% ETH, and 20% alts.

Although I have some alts that I hold long-term, I trade most of this stack.

I periodically rebalance to maintain this allocation.

It's worked well!  Sold ETH to buy BTC a few weeks ago (at ETH/BTC=0.054), and bought some ETH back yesterday (at ETH/BTC = 0.0295).

ethereum is altcoin which has many advantages. and using smart contract platform. so it's better than the others in altcoin. so I prefer ethereum as a long term investment. now bitcoin is not good for invest because it is expensive. other than that transaction fee is also very expensive. I prefer ethereum

for now, I prefer Bitcoin over Ethereum because Bitcoin is better than Ethereum. Bitcoin's future is more promising and many people say next year Bitcoin will make the highest price again.

You can still invest on Bitcoin if you want it is not too late though. Many still invest in Bitcoin and also I still like ethereum because of its consistency in the market so I think ethereum is good to invest to get good profit.

I see eth have potential, why you don't keep it for long-term. While btc you can do trading, because i see the price that is not certain on btc makes the trading use it well.

Personally I think ETH has wild potential. But I’m curious, what do you guys think about the recent viral craze of CryptoKitties? How do you think it affected he ETH market?

That's a hard decision, though! Bitcoin in itself a very profitable investment option. But the price, you see, is very high and is expected to reach $30k by the end of 2k17. And as far as ethereum is concerned, it also has a potential to reach $1k. Comparatively, ethereum is easy to buy because of lower price. You can invest some of your money in btc and some in ETH. That would help because both the options are lucrative and have vast potential to rise in near future.

I think it is an easy decision, for portfolio balance you should have both ETH and BTC.
I also hold both, do not hesitate to hold ETH and BTC. BTC is getting interesting but ETH is getting stable and is perfect for storing long-term assets. Sealin is a fee for cheap ETH transactions compared to BTC.
but BTC 2018 predicted $ 40K this could happen. both are very profitable.

Why bitcoin or ethereum? Should include Litecoin in for a better comparison. LTC grew pretty well these days.

yeah, it should be ltc vs eth and not btc vs eth because we are on the altcoin section and also etherium wont stand a chance to bitcoin because bitcoin is clearly the winner and always be the peoples choice. on the other hand lite coin and etherium will be the great comparison here because they are both altcoin , both of them are also close to each other but if i had to choose one between them  then id prefer to choose etherium, why? because eth has been also my favorite since i started to recognized cyrptocurrencies and also i oftenly use etherium as an investment, for trading ,also from buying and selling though i also hold some litecoin as a part of my portfolio because i believe that ltc has also got a big potential among other alts out there.

Investing in bitcoin is best chance for you really earn a lot of money when holding it for a few months or years, i dont think that eth can give you profit on what bitcoin can, my suggestion for you is that you go straight to bitcoin and invest.

and predictable in BTC chart you can shift in BTC.
or hold long term in Ethereum

Ether still has huge potential to rise. I would agree if you've got a relatively small amount Bitcoin might not be a life changing investment now. I'd go with ether and a number of alts at low prices (penny stocks) to give yourself a diverse portfolio with greater opportunities for ROI.
