Hi!

I just moved my GPUs to LTC. I have real problems setting 7870 GHz edition. I can get it to run with 440KH/s with hi HW errors but pool detect it at about 50KH/s.

After searching forums I found noting that works(https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=231482.msg2439385#msg2439385 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=200005.0 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=172786.0 ...). The settings in this topic(https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=172786.0) give me 440 but HW errors... But I could not set --thread-concurrency 16000 so I set it to 8000

Curent configuration:
Win 7 x64
Drivers 12.104
Not sure how to look OpenCL version

GPU 1200
MEM 1450
--thread-concurrency 8192
--intensity 12
GPU usage is only 60% but if I increase intensity rate goes down then over 15 goes up and HW errors apper. With some other configurations I got HW errors...

CGminer 2.11.4, 3.1.1 3.2.2 makes no diference.

Any idea?

Thanks

Try with 925 1375 or with your setting 1200 1450
--intensity 19 --thread-concurrency 14208 --gpu-threads 1 --worksize 256 --lookup-gap 2

For intensity 12 use --intensity 12 --thread-concurrency 7104 -g 2
But you have to get memory clock +- 50 your GPU clock for intensity 12

I would like to use intensity 19... It is dedicated miner... But I can't setup --thread-concurrency over 8192... What do I need to do for that...

set these 2 commands through cmd or make .bat files
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
OK I'm complicity new to LTC. Is this cgminer argument or something else...

I'm starting cgminer from bat file that way START /HIGH /B cgminer --scrypt...

So how do I need to modifay that? Like this?

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
START /HIGH /B cgminer --scrypt...

EDIT:
This is what I got out:

you set these two settings through cmd.exe and use cgminer-3.2.2 or newer
If that doesnt help, maybe you dont have enough system RAM.

Well hard to say... Now the other card crashes so I only get about 30 second before computer crashes... What is default --lookup-gap ?

OK using -d option to only start one card I see about 20 KH more... But --intensity 19 works without HW errors... Some exsperimenting got me to 400...

Core 938
Mem 1450

But still can't make 6970 and 7870 cart work at once...

Usually you can get about 1000x less with LTC then you had BTC. I was able to get 465 out of it BTC mining. Is there a way to do that with LTC?

Manage to get even more with (415) --thread-concurrency 16000 and 960,1450

But still can't make cards work together any idea?

What are your specs for your system?
RAM
Proc
etc.

Scrypt mining uses more RAM than SHA-256. In order to have higher thread concurrency you need more system RAM.

I have 2 7870(XT) that run @880 gpu and 1500 mem with 18512 thread concurrency and I-19
8 GB RAM
<420Kh/s> each

Pentium D 3,00 (current usage 3%)
4GB ram (current usage 899 MB)

But if you get only 420 out and I get 415 is close to optimum. I only need to know how to make 6790 to work... It crashes if I have --lookup-gap 2. What is the value for that if you don't have it set?

No... I'm new to this world of LTC. I didn't know about this site... Unfortunately 6790 is not listed... And 7870 is but not a lot of settings are there. I would love to know settings for 470... I can get GPU clock to 1139 easy...

I would try the card that is closest to it and fine tune from there. 6770?

The problem I have is that when I run it without --lookup-gap it runs just fine. I get 230 out. It is about 10 more that I got from BTC. So I guess it is fine... But I need --lookup-gap for 7870. Now I can setup it for every card no problem. But what is the default value that doesn't crash it?

Figure it out. 6790 works with --lookup-gap 0.

Thanks. Unfortunately your config doesn't help me alot. I have GHz edition and I think it is different core then XT... But getting just 5 KH away from yours that should be faster you might look at your settings...

This are my setings:
START /HIGH /B cgminer --scrypt ...... --temp-target 70,73 --auto-fan --gpu-fan 50-100,50-100 --gpu-engine 910,960 --gpu-memclock 1200,1450 --disable-rejecting --api-listen --api-allow W:127.0.0.1 --thread-concurrency 8192,16000 --intensity 19,19 --lookup-gap 0,2 -w 128,256 2>logfile1.txt

First one is 6790 and second is 7870... And now I'm going to increase memory to 1500 and find new sweetspot for 7870... Above 420 I believe...

I agree mine should be faster but there aren't a lot of people with this card and information on scrypt coin configurations, for bitcoin it works at stock settings for 520Mh/s.

Thanks for your info I should probably do some more fine tuning.

OK got 430...

If you are interested this is how...

START /HIGH /B cgminer --scrypt ......... --gpu-fan 50-100 --gpu-engine 995 --gpu-memclock 1500 --thread-concurrency 16000 --intensity 19 --lookup-gap 2 -w 256
