I am fairly new to mining bit coins. Right now im using the GUIMiner by Kiv.
I am reading that it is fairly frowned upon, and I can't find anything on how it is done. I have read pages and pages on how it works, and how it does this and that for hte gain percentage.. But I dont understand how it is actually physically done on the GUI program?
I'm afraid that I'm going to do it and get in trouble by the server people that I am using to mine.

Can someone please explain to me how it is done so I dont do it?

note how many shares have been done on a pool with proportional payouts. eg:
Pool A has done 1M shares of its current block, the next share will pay 50BTC/(1M+1)
Pool B has done 10 shares of its current block, the next share will pay 50BTC/11

a pool hopper would leave Pool A and go to B as he'd be paid more.  that's all there is, leaving a pool and entering another.
