transferring and selling between exchanges

Relativity new to all of this
I am soaking up all I can about these alt coins

This is probably a ridiculous question but is there a lot of activity of buying on one exchange, transferring to another and immediately selling at higher price? I guess like day trading. I would guess the answer is yes.

There seems to be some pretty wide gaps between the exchanges unless there are delays that I am not seeing

That's called arbitrage and yes it can be profitable but some coins take longer than other to send and some exchanges are restricted to certain country's citizens.

You need to take into account that exchanges charge a fee every time you withdraw any coin. On the other hand, sometimes transfers take more time than expected to arrive the other exchange and the opportunity may be gone, it´s not so easy as it seems.

It will not work.

- exchange fees
- transfer fees
- processing time, it takes like 3 hours to transfer BTC, in that time the exchange rates will be different

You can check out comparison of all BTC exchanges  http://www.coinparator.com/live/BTC/USD/  As you can see it vary by +-$1000 and even this amount is still not big enough to make arbitrage profitable.

i totally agreed with the above says, sometimes a big difference between other exchanges because their wallet is locked or in maintenance status. much better to check it first before you do the arbitrage move. its better to buy the trending coin and make scalping.

Looks really very tempting, but the sense of taste is just a waste of time. It is very doable, but when we will send its token to another exchanger, I think the token price also changed and same as the previous exchanger price. Because the price changes in the trade very quickly and sending tokens to other exchangers takes a long time for tokens to fit into our wallets.

This kind of trading is really dangerous. If the coin have the price stable for long time between exchangers then doing this will bring profit, but if the price dump or they suspend the withdraw/deposite then you may lost all that money.

Yes I do not have the stomach or time for this type of trading.
I was just looking at 2 different exchanges and was surprise in the spread between the two.
