You might want to change your ebay ad selling 1 for 40 when you are asking someone to buy 2 for 100.

Please tell me the hundred dollars is for all hundred of those. Even though that's only 1.15 ounces when silver is less than fifty dollars an ounce.

I can sell these in sheets of 50 uncut.  Great for barter.  They can be cut by hand with scissors.  To purchase view my store.  They are for sale for $40 with free shipping.

straight from the auction.

Yeah, almost three times the current silver spot price. The price would have be double the all time high to be worthwhile, since these are ONLY good for bartering. At least beautiful coins are beautiful even though they command a big premium (usually less than 100% Wink.

But still people go for this "Heaviest 5 Grain Silver Bars" Smiley I guess that could be technically correct if Grain is measure of mass (like kg, which is probable) and you live somewhere where stuff weight the most, ie. the nearest to earth's core...

I might buy that lot for about 40$, which is what one would have to pay for a nice coin of similar silver content.

in defense of OP:

bars are subject to VAT most places, whereas coins are not (or less, at least)
in .de the VAT on coins is 7%, on bars it's 19%. sucks, eh?

comparing the price of smallish amounts of physical silver with the spot price is dumb.
you will never ever ever get to buy an ounce of silver "at spot". that goes even more for 1/4, 1/10 and 1/20oz. this leads to:

the smaller the bar, the bigger the premium.
while i myself would never pay a 3x premium, i acknowledge that the easier a bar is turned around in times of need (ie financial meltdown etc), the higher the premium will be. try buying a loaf of bread with a maple leaf^^

i myself am selling one gram bars @ 2,20$ (1,50€), which is only a very slight premium (~10%) over the price they actually sell here physically (1,35€) /shameless plug

Yes it is for all 100.  Was my initial post really that unclear?

Sad

I might buy that lot for about 40$, which is what one would have to pay for a nice coin of similar silver content.

All silver products sell for a premium above spot.  The smaller the denomination the greater the premium.  I sell 1/4 oz rounds and they regularly sell for 1.5-2x spot.  People are willing to pay a premium.  If people weren't willing to pay a premium, no one would make these small denomination bars.  Believe it or not, it takes time and equipment to turn a lump of metal into a small bar with words on it that weighs a very specific amount.  If I was a non profit I would still have to sell these for a decent premium just to break even.

The 5 grain bar has never sold for less than a dollar in any quantity, regardless of spot price.  This is directly due to the work involved in creating it.  You bitcoin folks should actually understand that concept quite well.

As for the "heaviest 5 grain silver bar" comment, if you actually read my listing you would understand my statement.  There is another brand of 5 grain bar selling on ebay.  I explain it pretty clearly, even with big bright pictures everyone in this thread should be able to understand.  I bought 1000 of them a few months ago for resale.  I weighed a bunch of them and the weighed on average about 4.7 grains.  Once I realized the good markup I could make if I produced these, I got set up and began production.  The fact that my bars actually weigh more than 5 grains is my selling point vs the other brand.

Can someone explain to me what the OP is actually selling?

Read my initial post.  There is a statement "100 of these for sale:"

The colon indicates that something follows.  Look at the link immediatly after the colon.  It shows a big picture of a shiny piece of metal.  I am selling 100 of those.

I give up.  Just message me on ebay if any of you are interested in a purchase lol.

You might want to change your ebay ad selling 1 for 40 when you are asking someone to buy 2 for 100.

My 1st post stated that I was selling 100 of the ones shown in the auction.  The ones shown in the auction are cut into single bas, not sold in sheets of 50.  I thought this would be obvious, guess I was wrong.  The cut bars sell for more than the sheets.  I almost didn't type that last sentence because I figured it would be obvious, but I learn from my mistakes.

yes, but in your auction, you ALSO STATE THAT:

Quote
I can sell these in sheets of 50 uncut.  Great for barter.  They can be cut by hand with scissors.  To purchase view my store.  They are for sale for $40 with free shipping.

so you're selling individual grains at 100 for 100$, or sheets of 50 for 40$...

so either i could buy 100 individual grains for 100$ OR two sheets of 50 from you, 100 grains, for 80$ WITH free shipping...

I can see the wheel spinning.  You have only one more nut to crack before you solve this case Detective Kookie.

How much am I charging to cut the sheets up into individual bars?

I am beginning to understand how bitcoins are holding at $15,lol.

if anyones dumb enough to buy silver from you, i feel sad for them.

You really don't understand it.  Amazing.  For most people, individual bars are a more desirable form than a sheet of 50.  It also happens to take more work to produce.  That sets the stage for a higher price.  So I ask a higher price.  I have run auctions for sheets and cut up bars.  The cut up bars sell for more money.

In case you didn't catch that.  If I run an auction, people will bid more money for cut up bars than they will sheets.

In case you didn't catch that.  If I run an auction, people will bid more money for cut up bars than they will sheets.

In case you didn't catch that.  If I run an auction, people will bid more money for 4 1/4 oz round than they will 1 oz of silver.

In case you didn't catch that.  If I run an auction, people will bid more money for 100 1 oz rounds than they will a 100 oz bar.

In case you didn't catch that.  If I run an auction, people will bid more money for 32 1 gram bars than they will 1 oz round.

Are you noticing the pattern?  Do I need to post pictures for the bitcoin people?

To get the most silver for your money you should go buy a kilogram bar.  But that isn't practical for a lot of reasons for most people.  So they buy the denomination that they want.  And they pay what they are willing to pay.  People are willing to pay more money for 5 grain bars than they are 1 oz rounds.  I would think a site where people are paying $15 for nothing would have an easier time getting this.

OK bitcoiners.  Help me dummy proof this auction.  My intention is to sell (100) bars that weigh 5 grains each.  What part of this listing confuses you?

Now you're just starting to be insulting to the bitcoin community as a whole.

What can I say.  I've been selling merchandise (silver, coins, and other unrelated stuff) online for about 10 years now.  I've never received such stupid questions or comments in my life.  Sure you get one here and there, but the reasoning and lack of understanding in this thread is just amazing.

I should just offer some gambling service in the other forum.  Apparantly that is the business people really want on this forum.  How about a 24 hr double your money pool and I keep everything left over at the end?  Those threads get a better response and a lot more action than this.

I know you should be nice to customers, but there are no customers here.  Just a bunch of gamblers and naive speculators.
