King of what? Overpriced video cards?

Lol Cheesy It gives the highest hashrate of the cards available today. In that sence its king.

I think the new VOLTA card from Nvidia will overtake this position. We'll have to wait and see! Pascal is now 1.5 years old, should come something new soon.
The thing is that it is not the most price efficient one. When it comes to cards with a better chance to ROI many AMD cards still are a better bang for your buck. But many people like to go for maximum hashrate on specific hashrates so I am not surprised.

If You take in the account resale value at the end, 1080ti would be best one speculating on today's 980ti price.
Also it's king/queen of shitcoins, without doubt. One ti could easily mess with some shitcoins, full rig could take sometimes large chunk of network making solo mining viable.
It's all down to personal preference thou.

It also has the longest ROI of any new card:

1080Ti on ZEC - 195 days
---
1060 3GB on ZEC - 165 days
Price from the site nvidia:
1080 Ti - $699 : 195 days = 3.58
1060 -  $299 : 165 days = 1.81

1080 Ti need only 1 extra month after payback that to circumvent younger model in the effectiveness. Already at 255 days, she can earn for you 2 times more money (unless of course it all not fall apart). Moreover, who then will need trash (1050/1060 and partly 1070), with the advent of Nvidia Ampere?

I can't find a 1080ti near that price...I think we still have a GPU bubble going on

I agree to most posts saying that the 1080ti is the king of nothing. There are lots of cards with lower retail prices and better hash rate-power efficiency (like for example the Vega 56). While some continue to argue that density is important and all that, I challenge those people to do the actual math behind it. I don't have time to post my computations here but the cost of density is not worth it. Just get more vegas and build more rigs. You will even end up earning more.

I already ROI'd on my 3 Vega 56 cards

The hard part is getting Vegas for a decent price though most places are sold out or very high priced.  I would LOVE a few Vega's at retail price but that is hard to find.

Newegg hits that point on occasional sales, usually the Gigabyte "white" 3-fan Windforce model or the ASUS or MSI blower models.

I dont think Volta will change anything seeing Titan V performance almost similar to 1080 ti give it a really good Boost the next Ti in my opnion will be at most around 15 percent more hashrate and 20 percent less energy consumption but 30-40 percent more expensive.
Anyways Buying a 1080ti now will ROI it till when the Volta series hit consumers and are readily available
Also the name 1080 resembling 1080p will Forever remain Cool

The new Volta gaming cards may take over as most overpriced when they come out. Switching to a 12nm process will increase the manufacturing costs on the new Nvidia GPU's.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Op3h_bV3ohA

you don't buy a 1080ti to mine zec. Its king of the shitcoin for a reason and the roi is half that if you know what you're doing.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2567521.msg26162475#msg26162475

If you're buying the 1080 Ti thinking it's the most profitable card to mine with, then you DON'T know what you're doing. The 1080 Ti is a good card for noobs that think they can make up for their lack of experience with their wallet LOL.

You`re so full of crap... It is the best card at this time all things considered.

Agree, for now i'm still buying the 1080ti's.
Hopefully their consumer cards aren't too much more expensive than the current TI.

Zec is also now way off the most profitable with the TI.
They also take up less space and require less mobo etc because you don't need as many.

I'm a believer of "half the rigs half the problems", most my farm is 1080ti. That said a 1070ti has the price performance ratio of a 1080ti in shitcoins, and beats it in efficiency and price perf in Equihash and etash while not sacrificing too much on density.

Diversifying a little to 1070tis, equihash is too big to ignore but 1080tis are still awesome.

and the vega56  is far more profitable with monero with 1800+ h

i think it s the best gpu for mining  price watt earnings
VEGA 56 is not profitable. Mining Ethereum VEGA shows very modest results. Price it twice what the RX 580 but the profitability of these cards 30 Mh/s and the profitability of VEGA 56 approximately 43 Mh/s. What is the benefit? Power consumption of VEGA 56 is also very high. I heard that they are beneficial to use in the extraction of zec but I can't say for sure.
Yes, Vega is very bad, hot and slow card. That is way it is nearly impossible to buy it )))))))))))))

Not profitable? LOL ... Who said anything about mining ETH with it? ... My six card rig with Vega 56's is doing just fine with XMR.  Power consumption at 180W per card.  Average H/S is 1900 per card.  Paid $525 USD for each card.  Six more on back order that I paid $550/card for.  I would love to buy more at that price, but you can't find them anywhere at the moment, unless you pay some dumbass on Amazon 1000USD for one.

Bad, hot, and slow? You just aren't in the know, dude.

Well, NVidia has announced that volta will be ready in late spring, maybe even summer.
So we have plenty of time left (in terms of life of gpus).
But new titan was already shown.. it costly.. but powerful though

Which means they pushed it back AGAIN - previous announcement I was aware of was "Feb 2018" for the first consumer cards.

Not a shock though, given the great Vega "squib fizzle" as a high-end gaming card.

Seems like VEGA's are hard to get...AMD is not known for producing volume...did you buy them the day they were released (to get them at that price)?
