Mining on a laptop is not recommended. What ever you tiny amount you make in coins will most likely never make up for the loss of value once you kill it from overheating it. Much better and more productive to sell it and buy a GPU.

This laptop has been hot as hell before I'm not too worried about it I don't really use it and I don't want to sell it I'd rather just mine with it so if you could tell me what coins I can mine on a macbook pro that'd be great.

We'll overheating during normal use is not going to help it when it's overheating from mining 24/7. If you were to sell it for let's just say $500 and buy 2 RX 570 4GB cards for $250> to add to a rig you already have, you would make ~$1600 after a year dual mining with thouse GPU's which is enough to cover the costs of the GPU's, buy a new $1100 laptop and WAY more than you'll ever make CPU mining on a laptop.

Mining XMR, which about the only coin to mine profitably on a CPU, you would make ~$1565 a year with the same GPU's. Just food for thought.

I already have 3 rigs I'm not looking to profit I'm looking to mine and hold possibly mine some coins now that will be worth more in the future. So if my laptop shits the bed I don't really care. I already have 4 brand new gtx 1070's sitting next to me I just don't have room for another rig so please just point me to a tutorial on how to setup mining on a macbook.....

Jezzus!  Mining on a laptop?  I won't even use a laptop to check my email anymore.  Lol.

Ok, I want you to walk back in there and very calmly, very politely tell the risk assessors to fuck off! -Mark Baum

Damn, I like your style, rich man!. You can try to find any CPU based coin in a few website that provides any coin info, such as https://whattomine.com/ , https://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency , etc.

Laptop mining is not advisable because it will only destroy your thing. I purchased brand new laptop two weeks ago and hoping that I can use it for bitcoin or altcoin mining, luckily I asked for advises and make a research first before doing it so I didn't continue what I have been planned. Well, if you don't care what might happen to your Macbook after mining then do it we are just telling you the possibilities.

Using your laptop to mine will harm it and it will become slow. Even starting your navigator will take longer.
Mining with CPU and GPU is not profitable anymore but if you want to do it just for fun or for learning purposes
then you can mine Monero (XMR) it is still possible to earn some bucks from it (1 XMR = 288$).

Minergate is a good choice and it is available with console or graphic interface.

Lol don't buy Asics, such a moronic statement. 10k investment, pre used and obsolete in 6 months, wow.

You can CPU mine, just make sure you pick an algo where its ONLY possible to mine with CPU (no no no GPU  = no cryptonote), that has a low mcap (so potential for appreciation), and set your thread count as low as possible to not burn your cpu.

If you want to CPU mine, I would check this post if I were you. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2527462.0 . Even though I have a PC with good cooling and really good CPU, it has given me far better results than anything other than I've tried to mine, and its stays consistent at 60% load, 55C, and 250-290 h/s. Im not sure you will be able to mine anything else that will give you a lot of coins mined with a laptop  Huh

It wouldn't be too good for the macbook itself, and you also wouldn't get too much profit because of electricity costs and low amounts of crypto being mined.

Yep you can mine Credits(CRDS) without any issues. Credits is only solo mining through the wallet for now. You can set the number of cores you want to use for the mining. Just install the wallet, go to the Debuc Console, and type 'setgenerate true 3' where 3 represents the number of cores you want to mine with. You can download the Mac wallet from the Credits Website.
