I have seen it written that the security of the bitcoin network is primarily related to the hash power. But this does not seem to be correct. If someone discovers the next hash and gets to add the next block, they still cannot include erroneous transactions on the block because the network can verify if a transaction was not signed correctly. So is the security not primarily due to the public/private cryptography?
