Cannot get mobo to see 7th GPU

Hey all,

Have a Z170X gaming 5 mobo with 6x 1070s and EVGA 1200w-P2.  I went to install the seventh and the computer wont boot at all with the seventh riser installer. Tried a different risers+riser cables, tried a different GPU, installed the latest F22C bios flash, and i do not know what else to try.  Also what is curious is when i plug the riser into the PCI slot on the board the computer started booting up which seems odd since none of the other ports do this. Perhaps there is a setting i missed in the BIOS?

Be careful with your setup, I dont think 1200W PSU could handle 7x1070. I havent used that mobo yet, but basically your rig could boot with 6 GPUs, it means it also can boot with 7 GPUs as well.

I agree with you. Let's say this is under standard conditions (no OC/Undervolt), 1070 with 150Watt TDP, it means OP needs more power space when OP start mining process. And maybe the power issue is what caused your system didn't want to boot.

Sorry, meant to add that i am running 75% TDP, which according to EWBF is about 115w per card

Am glad to hear that, but I suggest you to count every part from the worst condition. Mining process will force your machine, so you need everything in the max state. This is a good reference for you: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2238455.msg22584160#msg22584160

If you are running windows I believe there is a limit to how many of the same gpu you can have. If you use linux you can have as many of the same gpu as you want. Just a heads up.

Linux is better then Windows.
