Not at all new the Bitcoins or SL but finally made an account here after lurking for the last 10 months. I stumbled upon this article about using VirWox to transfer Lindens into Bitcoins. I also notice it was written in April. So I tried setting this up today and though I can validate my avatar and with VirWox it won't let me pay the terminals. I have a feeling Linden Labs (maker of SL) changed their policy. Anyone know anything about this. Thanks for your time.

doesn't work any more afaik. I originally bought through virwox then when I went to buy some more recently I found I couldn't deposit.

I think you can still deposit small amounts through paypal but i'm not sure. Certainly the way I did it isn't possible any more.

Yeah after looking some more I found http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/More-Options-for-Buying-Linden-Dollars/ba-p/2011355

"To be clear: per the Terms of Service, these resellers will not be allowed to purchase L$ outside of the LindeX (i.e. they will not be able to buy L$ back from users and cash people out). "

Well looks like I gotta go Lindens to $ to Bitcoin... unless someone wants to buy Lindens at slightly below market value for bitcoins.

you can sell your lindens at lindex* for market price and then you'll get $ within a week or so via paypal. You can set to sell them slightly above what you paid and cover your inconvenience.

first time i bought btc, i purchased $300 of lindens, deposited them to virwox then bought btc there and transferred them out. I couldn't do that a second time as virwox had stopped taking deposits.

*the linden market - it's in your account when you log on to sl on the www.

IME, Linden Labs was rather uncooperative about lifting my BTC/L$ trading limits. At least for me, this wasn't a reliable way to acquire crypto.

Thanks for the info guys. I am familiar with how it works as I take Lindens out from time to time. Too bad they shut down L to BTC... would have had enough to get 23 bitcoins (I make a lot of SL sales).

Is this still not advised? I was interested in potentially using paypal to purchase BTC through them.

nanobtc It still works, I did a few days ago. I don't feel right using bank info or CC, so I've used paypal with them.
