I have 6 gigabyte 1080 ti aorus and they have 2 8 pins each . How to properly connect them with the risers? Do they still need both 8 pins connected plus 6 pin to the risers or 1 8 pin to the card and 6 to the riser, or 2 8 pins to the cards and used the sata that came with the risers to power them. Thanks

Yes, all need connected.

2 x 8 pin on GPU
+ Riser (sata, 6 pin, etc)

You must connect all, but at least you can connect to the gpu 2 6x connectors.
Do downvolting and check temperature of cables if its not heat good. 2 pins in 8x pci-ex is a GND

i am going to have enough 8 pins for the gpu's, i will be using 1200w for 3 gpus plus risers and the motherboard and one 1000w for the rest 3 gpus. im just going to used the satas that came with the riser to power them up

i will have to used them, cause i will have only 2 6 pins left, even if i split them will still have 2 risers left that i have to use the satas. is not a good idea to split the 6 pins by 3 right to power 3 risers each

Some people recommend to not use the Satas.
I’ve been using them though without any issues.

 You have been lucky - the SATA power connector ITSELF is only rated for 54 watts max draw on the 12VDC pins - the PCI-E BUS is specified to have up to 75 watts drawn from it (and some cards in review testing have been shown to pull more than THAT at least some of the time on peaks).

 If you are running the card in a "low power draw high efficient" setting, it might work OK for a long time - but why take the risk when MOLEX powered risers are no more expensive and DO power the riser safely (156 watt power rating on a MOLEX connector, just watch the WIRING for those).

One of my Aorus seems a bit strange, any ideas?
Bought two at once, one seems to use less power, and hash less.
Have to set it at 85% power with more +core to get hashes (slightly less) than the other Aorus, which I set at 80% to get similar clocks to my 75% Asus Strix OC.
Just bad luck in the silicon lottery maybe?

Probably - I've got 3 Aorus at this point and haven't noticed any performance difference at the settings I have them set at.

 I probably won't be getting more though - the "dual 8 pin power" requirement is a PAIN to work with on a multi-GPU rig, other than that they are very good cards.
