What's a way that I can build repute on this forum so everybody can trust me with transactions and other things?

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Get rated on the web of trust (http://bitcoin-otc.com/). The setup is quite convoluted and it takes over a week to get verified, but I hear it is worth the wait.

Use bitcoinfeedback.com.  Any time you make a transaction with someone, request that they leave you feedback there.

The OTC web of trust is nice for geeks who understand IRC though...

Haha! Yea, I've gotten on bitcoin-otc a few times, but I can never understand anything that's going on.  I think the Feedback site it a good idea. I have good feedback on Ebay and that helps people trust.

Thanks

Browse the For-Sale subforum.  Then when you see something you like, offer to send a cashier's check valued at 8-10 times what they're asking for and offer to send one of your shippers to come pick the item up, along with the remaining cash difference from the check.
