Hey guys.

Newbie to the forum here... :3

I've been wanting to invest in Bitcoin since the 3k$ mark. But I just haven't had the time, yes I know it was a big mistake waiting...
But I have about 4000$ to invest into Bitcoin (It's currently sitting with shares, will take a few days to pull out), I was wondering is it too late to invest it? Will it still grow? Will we see a big drop/crash soon?
My shares barely profit, if I make a few $$,$$$'s from Bitcoin, I would be more than happy since it would be doing better than my shares my advisor put me on.

I'm happy with Bitcoin, alt coins are too unstable for me in my opinion, and they have a much higher risk than Bitcoin.
Is it too late to invest?

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

first off, take anything you read on this forum with a grain of salt. we have our share of trolls on both sides: permabulls who think BTC will become the world's reserve currency next week, and permabears who are still talking about triple-digits.

personally, i hate when people ask me for advice about entries. in a long term speculative sense, i think it's always a good time to buy some BTC if you don't own any at all. cryptocurrency will transform the world economy and at some point, i believe there will be a very large transfer of wealth from today's economic powerholders to the crypto-rich. on what timeline that takes place? i don't know. the 2013 rally is a good example: buying at $1000 looked like a great idea on the way up. but then you had to sit through 3 years of market action to see any returns on it.

Will we see a big drop/crash soon?

it's impossible to say when it will happen. i wouldn't be surprise to see a blow-off top into $25,000+ first. but i think there will be an epic crash in the next couple months. i have $$ waiting on the exchanges to buy the blood.

You are absolutely right, it is full of people who are saying that the price will be over one hundred thousand  dollars during the next year, and they all think that they will be millionaires just by holding a few satoshis on their wallets foverever.

we have our share of trolls on both sides: permabulls who think BTC will become the world's reserve currency next week, and permabears who are still talking about triple-digits.

Haha this is just happening on reddit, just go to the bitcoin subreddit and you will see that everybody has the meme "hodl" fully instalated in there, just talk to someone and they will only say "hodl forever"

permabulls who think BTC will become the world's reserve currency next week

This is only caused by jealous people who were not able to invest during those times when bitcoin was at a lower price, they are just jealous and they all want to keep posting fud, there is nothing to be scared of.

and permabears who are still talking about triple-digits

You could look into dollar cost averaging - buying a set amount at a set time over an extended period.

If you'd started in late 2013 and finished up in 2015 you'd have 3-5x more coins for the same outlay than if you'd bought all in a panic at the peak.

Of course there's no point in comparing a specific period of the past to now, but it might also bring on a more objective mindset.

Will it continue to grow? If you're looking towards the next decade then you're still an early arrival.

Since you already have an investment in stocks you should be familiar with the risk involve in investing but in my opinion, if you are asking if you are late i do not think so Bitcoin has a lot of room to grow more I am still buying it at current price range. I also have investment in stocks and I know the profit is slow, If you are wondering when will it crash well nobody knows that for sure but I think it will not happen in the near future.

It has been asked many times if it is too late to invest. Just invest on what you can afford to risks, yet it's not too late to invest in bitcoin. Others invested late but still they are gaining profit more than they expected.

I always say that if you have to ask other for buying advice, it should be a signal that you probably shouldn't invest in Bitcoin at all. Currently you're not able to separate valuable input from garbage input, and thus again, shouldn't invest.

If you want to go through anyway, then at least accept the risks that are tied to this market, and don't use your entire capital at once. That is something a lot rookies tend to do, and from there limit themselves immensely.

Nowadays however it seems that people just jump into Bitcoin regardless of their lacking knowledge, so it doesn't come as a total surprise if OP ends up doing the same eventually. That's how things go here.

BSV is not the real Bcash. Bcash is the real Bcash.

OP, if you wish to make your $4000 to something meaningful or "life changing" then I believe with Bitcoin's price being on $16500, it is too late for that. But you can still invest in altcoins. Though you have to choose well, most of them are scams.

I am holding my first altcoin myself, called Decred, and it is not going well. Sad

No. its never too late to invest in bitcoin, maybe you should wait for the upcoming dip for you to buy some/more bitcoin at low price than these bitcoin current price now. even you witness the price-rocket of this bitcoin, its totally never too late to invest because this is just the beginning of the price-rocketing of our precious bitcoin. more price hike to come so brace your self to bought a bunch of bitcoin from this upcoming dip.

I'd suggest get the money on an exchange, put 1/3 into crypto straight away and the other 2/3rd in low buy orders, eg, 5$k bitcoin, similarly low for other coins which take your interest, and come back in 4 years, you'll probably be doing well. That way you won't feel like you're missing out, but I'd be very surprised if we didn't touch on old levels briefly once this leg up is finished, at least, it's always done that in the past.

It's a crazy guessing game for all of us!

obviously not, because this bitcoin will become our future currency to be use all over the world. and in terms of investment bitcoin is a long term investment program that you will surly not to miss, time to time bitcoin price increase/raise and no one can stop that scene, why? because we all people are slowly adopting this bitcoin, and the more usage to come the more/high demand to be, and thats the reason why bitcoin price will continue increasing. so its never too late to get involve/buy bitcoin to build your future life.

It is never too late to invest in bitcoin. It all depends on your ability to take risks. The market is to himself that the price fluctuates. It depends on how long you want to invest. The decision is yours.

Honestly if you're just looking for something that could potentially outperform a few months of stocks then you could definitely enter the BTC market now with your $4000, and set a cashout target of modestly $4500-5000 depending on your needs.

However i don't think that you'll be able to see the growth from $400-$17k again, since that would basically mean BTC going to close to $1 million per coin which is something that i dont feel like will happen for a long time or even at all.

But is it too late to enter just for a quick flip? No, not at all.

Altcoin volatility is great for increasing your bitcoin stack. The bounces can be so easy to trade sometimes that it feels like stealing. That said, I've been around the block a few times, and suffered some nasty drawdowns in my day. People think Bitcoin takes conviction to hold...altcoins bring it to a whole new level. Wink

As far as long term investment goes, it's not too late. But if I were sending USD to an exchange right now, I'd probably sit on the sidelines for a bit. There's a good chance it'll go higher -- it's really unpredictable -- but FUD abounds, and the one thing I've learned about crypto is there will always be dips. If you draw a trendline at log scale from the Sept. 13 - Nov. 11 bottoms, I'm looking to buy any dip near that trendline.
